Taygen opened our Brisbane Gala Dinner playing the didgeridoo and he's been just as busy at school.

Last term, the Year 8 student received a Middle School Merit Award and was appointed a Middle School Leader. He also represented his school during NAIDOC Week.

Thank you to everyone at the Gala who gave him such a warm welcome.

𝘞𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳 𝘚𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵 is a valued part of Yalari's 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺, designed to strengthen leadership, resilience and connection among Yalari students and alumni.

Recently, participants came together at Gallipoli Barracks in Brisbane for five days of challenge, growth and teamwork alongside mentors from Defence Australia 9th Battalion, Royal Queensland Regiment - Australian Army (9 RQR).

Through navigation exercises, first aid training, obstacle courses, field activities and yarning circles, participants stepped outside their comfort zones, supported one another and developed skills they can carry into their schools, workplaces and communities.

It was inspiring to see this year's group embrace every opportunity, strengthen relationships, and learn from the experiences of 9 RQR personnel. A memorable week of leadership, personal growth and connection.

We're grateful to the Australian Defence Force and 9 RQR for sharing their time, knowledge and experience with our students and alumni each year.

Since 2008, more than 30 Yalari students have called Churchie home. Now, six endowed scholarships will help ensure future students can access the same opportunities, support and sense of belonging for years to come.
