Today, members from Oberon Headquarters NSW RFS proudly took part in the ANZAC Day march, standing alongside our community to honour and remember the service and sacrifice of our veterans and current serving personnel.

ANZAC Day is a time to reflect on the courage, mateship, and resilience that defines the ANZAC spirit—values that continue to guide us in our service to the community.

We thank everyone who attended and supported today’s commemorations. It was an honour to march and pay our respects.

Lest we forget.

Last night was our junior specific training night and what a great training night it was!
Our junior’s train with our ordinary members each week but once a month we have a junior specific training night. On these nights we concentrate on fundamental skills including the correct way to bowl and lay out hoses on a fire ground, what hoses to use on different incidents as well as the importance of team work and how to stay safe when working around vehicles.
If you would like more information on our junior memberships send us a Facebook message.

Yesterday Oberon Headquarters had 2 more members attend and successfully complete their Breathing apparatus course at Chifley Fire Control Centre.
Our two members aswell as 8 other members from other brigades were given the knowledge on how to wear this vital piece of equipment and at what incidents it can be used.
Congratulations to
Firefighter Rhys Braun
Firefighter Phoebe Wilson (sparky)
This brings Oberon Headquarters BAO total up to an impressive 11 members.

Big shout out to the training crew for this course which consists of 2 Oberon Hq members
Deputy Captain Steve Ellery
Structure Firefighter Tara Ellery
as well as many members from other brigades and our fantastic Chifley Lithgow L&D officer who do an amazing job at organising, teaching, demonstrating and support the up skilling of our firefighters.

🔥 Planned Pile Burn Notice – No Cause for Concern 🔥
Our brigade would like to advise the community that a planned pile burn is currently taking place at the golf club on the edge of town.
🌿 The burn is being conducted by the landowners.
🚒 NSW RFS crews are not on scene continuously, however we will be carrying out regular patrols to monitor conditions.
💨 You may notice smoke drifting across parts of the township due to changing wind conditions. This is expected and does not pose a threat to the community.
👉 There is no need to report this smoke, as it is a known, controlled burn.
If conditions change, we will provide further updates.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

Today, 31 March, marks the end of the statutory Bush Fire Danger Period (BFDP) for the majority of NSW. However, due to the ongoing fire risk, the BFDP will be extended in four Local Government Areas, including Gwydir, Mid-Western, Moree Plains and Narrabri.

While many landholders may no longer require a fire permit, you are still required to notify the RFS and your neighbours of your intention to burn at least 24 hours before lighting the fire.

For more information on the bush fire danger period and fire permits, visit the website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/BFDP

The Rural Fire Service is the leading combat agency for bushfire BUT it’s not all we do!
We respond to a wide range of incidents including structure fires, car fires as well as assisting other agencies with storm events and ambulance assistance.

This weekend we will be attending the Oberon show and we thought what a perfect opportunity to show our community how we train in village Incidents.
We will have a live fire demonstration at 10am and 12noon as well as all the Information you could possibly need on how to protect your self your family and your home from Bushfire.
We will have our very good friends from Chifley Lithgow BA support and the Chifley Lithgow support brigade join us for the day.

Come chat to us about becoming a volunteer firefighter or our new junior cadet program.
We will be set up in the display section of the show ground.
