Today's trivia is a
WHO AM I?
Can you identify this influential miniature-horse sire?
I was born in the United States in 1986.
I was a small stallion, standing approximately 31.5 inches, but my influence would become considerably larger than my physical size.
I eventually made my way to Australia, at a time when the Australian miniature-horse industry was still in its relatively early years, where I became an important part of the country's developing miniature-horse breeding scene.
I wasn't simply valued for my pedigree. I also proved myself in the show ring, competing successfully against some of the best small horses of my era.
Among my achievements were Supreme Championships at Melbourne Royal, Adelaide Royal and the Victorian State Championships.
But my story didn't end when I left the show ring:
As a sire, I went on to produce offspring that became successful show horses and valuable breeding animals.
My progeny and descendants accumulated an impressive list of achievements, including
* National Grand Championships,
* National Championships,
* National Reserve Championships and futurity wins.
My influence spread through some of Australia's most recognised miniature-horse families.
Several of my offspring became particularly noteworthy in their own right.
Among them were horses, including Shangrila NR Rave Review,
Shangrila NR Special Edition and Shangrila NR Miss America.
My influence also reached the Apoco-D breeding program, with offspring such as Apoco-D Midnight Cowboy and Apoco-D Moonlight Gambler carrying my name in their pedigrees.
My importance wasn't simply in the horses I personally produced. My bloodlines continued through their offspring, meaning my influence could be found generations after I was gone.
One of my daughters was Shangrila NR Miss America, foaled in 1998, and another generation would continue carrying my bloodlines through some of Australia's prominent miniature-horse families.
My descendants could be found behind successful horses across the country, and my name became firmly established as one of the influential early imported sires in Australian miniature-horse history.
But there was one son in particular who would become especially important.
He was born in 1993 and stood approximately 31.25 inches.
He was bred by Shangrila, and rather appropriately, his name suggested exactly what he would become.
He was called: Shangrila NR Born to Win.
And he was my son.

His descendants continue to appear throughout Australian miniature horse pedigrees today.
His influence went well beyond his own offspring, with Born to Win becoming an important sire whose descendants can be found throughout many subsequent Australian pedigrees.
Trios Night Ryder was certainly a name that left its mark on the development of the Australian miniature horse. ๐ดโจ
