More than football. It’s about kicking goals, on and off the pitch. ⚽

Over the past six weeks, IntoJobs and City in the Community, the community arm of Melbourne City FC, have come together to deliver the Kicking Goals Youth Program, using sport to help young jobseekers build confidence, teamwork, leadership and skills for work.

This week, participants put those skills into practice by planning and hosting their own football tournament in Dandenong.

As Sunil Menon, Head of Community at Melbourne City Football Club, shared: “Football is such a connecting, uniting force... there’s so much that can be done just by engaging young people through the sport.”

Participant Kelly Mouse reflected: “When we started this program, none of us knew we would host a tournament like this.”

The outcomes are already taking shape, with four of the 14 participants moving into work and two already starting new jobs.

A great example of what can happen when employment support, community and sport come together to create opportunities for young people.

Local support helps Jaymie build a future close to home

When Jaymie came to IntoJobs, he was determined to find employment and build a future in the region he calls home.

Living in Mount Mary (SA), Jaymie accessed support through IntoJobs' outreach services in nearby Morgan, where he worked with Mobile Employment Consultant Jennifer Davis to explore opportunities and work towards his goals.

That support led to a full-time Grader Operator role with Mid Murray Council. With assistance to complete the required licences, training and checks, Jaymie successfully secured the position and commenced work in May 2024.

Today, more than two years later, he continues to thrive in the role and has achieved another significant personal milestone: purchasing his own home.

Stories like Jaymie's show the difference local support and practical assistance can make in helping people achieve long-term stability.

Mobile servicing helps deliver local support in Moura (QLD)

Each week, IntoJobs Mobile Employment Consultant Teniel travels from Gladstone* to Moura, helping ensure participants in regional communities can access the same personalised support and connection available in larger centres.

With Moura located more than two hours from Gladstone and around 50 minutes from Biloela, accessing employment services can be challenging for people living in the region. Through regular outreach visits, Teniel helps bring support closer to home for 57 participants who live in Moura.

By providing consistent, face-to-face support in the community, Teniel helps participants stay connected, engaged and supported on their employment journey, without the need to travel long distances to access services.

At IntoJobs, our mobile service delivery model is about taking support where it's needed and ensuring participants can access opportunities, regardless of where they live.

Through our mobile service delivery model, we bring employment support directly into local communities, helping participants access personalised assistance closer to home and reducing the need for travel.

By taking services beyond the office and into the communities we support, our team helps remove barriers, strengthen connections and ensure participants remain engaged with the support they need to achieve their employment goals.

Mobile support helps connect participants with local opportunities

Three Murray Bridge participants are settling into new roles after receiving tailored support from IntoJobs and local employer Wellington Lake Marina.

From providing interview clothing and transport assistance to arranging targeted upskilling opportunities, IntoJobs Employment Consultants Jessie-Dee and Penny worked closely with participants to help them overcome barriers and prepare for work with confidence. 🤩

As part of our mobile servicing model, Jessie-Dee and Penny recently visited Wellington Lake Marina to provide post-placement support, check on participants' progress and strengthen relationships with the employer.

This success highlights how practical support, strong employer partnerships and ongoing engagement can create sustainable employment outcomes. 🎯

Building local connections creates local opportunities 🎯

Recently, our Mackay team spent time out in the community meeting with local businesses, learning about workforce needs and building relationships with employers across the region.

Following our move to a new office in Mackay, our teams made it a priority to get to know the local area, build genuine connections and create opportunities that help us better support participants into meaningful employment.

By connecting directly with local businesses, our teams visited nearly 80 businesses and identified more than 20 future recruitment opportunities. 🚀

Dean, Nekeytah, Callen and Kaylah are now settling into employment after securing opportunities with support from our team in Cranbourne (VIC)*.

Working alongside the group, IntoJobs Mobile Employment Consultant Abi Bansal provided tailored support throughout the recruitment process, including resume preparation, interview support, career guidance and assistance completing pre-employment requirements. 📈
