It was a privilege for our team to meet little chicks like this one let a lone to be able to them.

Dr Joe's words remind us that our wild friends already have so much to contend with out there in the world. The least we can do is try not to make it any harder for them πŸ’š

Thank you National Malleefowl Recovery Group for the opportunity to spend time with these amazing animals!

β€œPerhaps the most extraordinary thing about malleefowl is really epitomised by a little chick coming out of a mound and wandering off into the scrub.

The challenges it faces are just beyond my comprehension.

The survival of a little chick seems impossible.” - Dr Joe Benshemesh.

We haven’t posted in a little while, so we thought we’d get back into the swing of things with an undeniably good post - maybe even a great post!?

We met this bearded dragon whilst out filming for our recent Malleefowl documentary. Head over to National Malleefowl Recovery Group to learn more in the coming weeks.

We’ve been busy behind the scenes and we're excited for an exciting 2026 celebrating all things nature, and bringing you more stories of the natural world and those who love it. πŸ’š

"If we just keep going forward without actually, really, truly understanding what's happened in the past, then we're going forward in a risky way."
– Dan Turnbull.

Remember The Wild is proud to present Bay Country: Diary of a descendant.

This short form documentary follows the thoughts and reflections of Bunurong man, Dan Turnbull, as he explores the traditional lands of his ancestors, on what is today known as the Mornington Peninsula.

The film is a moving tribute to Bunurong culture and heritage, and a profound exploration of what it means to live on Country in the 21st century.

Given the environmental challenges facing humans today, understanding our deepest connections to the land, sea, and sky has never been more vital. This Reconciliation Week, as focus on Bridging Now to Next, Bay Country presents a cultural and environmental reflection on a place where the past and present collide, and the future is owned by all.

We’re deeply grateful to Dan Turnbull and his family for their generosity in making this film possible. We also acknowledge the support of the Victorian Government, through the Port Phillip Bay Fund, in helping bring this important project to life.

Coming this Friday: Bay Country

Remember The Wild are extremely proud to have worked on this project with Dan Turnbull – a Bunurong man and gifted storyteller.

The National Reconciliation Week (NRW) 2025 theme, Bridging Now to Next calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.

If we can learn a little more about each other, understand and respect each other's differences, the future can be bright and healing.

We're looking forward to bringing you these stories of Naarm/Port Phillip and its rich cultural history. Make sure you tune in on Friday!
