☀️What a way to kick off the long weekend! North Sydney parkrun delivered a spectacular winter morning, with sunshine, blue skies and just enough chill in the air to make that post event coffee taste even better.

The glorious conditions seemed to attract everyone who had the same excellent idea of starting their long weekend with 5km of fun, fresh air and friendly faces. In total, 466 finishers joined us this morning, proving that while some people choose to sleep in on a Saturday, hundreds of others prefer to spend their weekend collecting endorphins, achievements and an entirely justified bakery purchase afterwards.

THANK YOU to our 26 volunteers who put on another great event. Without our vollies, our parkrun doesn’t happen! Our roster is never full and everyone is welcome to join in ❤️🦺

26 participants made a great decision and made today their first ever parkrun. Welcome to the parkrun community! ✅

We welcomed visitors from the UK 🇬🇧 and even a lady all the way from the Czech Republic 🇨🇿. All up, we had 48 visitors enjoy our parkrun for the first time today! Wherever you came from, we hope you had fun and hope to see you back at North Sydney parkrun soon! 🌍

⛅️ After a week that felt more suited to kayaking than running at times, 460 North Sydney parkrunners were delighted to discover that the rain had finally taken a day off. The clouds cleared, the sun made a welcome appearance, and cool, crisp conditions greeted runners, walkers and volunteers alike. Perfect PB shaming conditions!

Whether you were aiming for a milestone, a PB, or simply trying to remember what dry running shoes feel like, well done for getting out there and getting it done! 💪

Let’s give a great big THANK YOU to our 28 volunteers who delivered another cracking event. Without our vollies, our parkrun doesn’t happen! Our roster is never full and everyone is welcome to join in ❤️🦺

How about that... Darren is hitting a 1,000 parkrun milestone this weekend...😮 💙 By the way, the Volunteer 1,000 mark has been achieved already - due to Junior parkruns providing extra volunteer opportunities!🧡

This weekend, Darren Wood will become the first person ever to join the 1,000 walk/run milestone club 💛

That’s 5,000k covered over 22 years, a milestone that would still take around 19 years to achieve even with perfect attendance every Saturday 🤯

🥳8th Birthday. A must read Stats Edition🎂 Eight years, too many hills, and enough laps to qualify us as minor public transport loop! 🏃‍♂️🚶‍♂️

In that time we’ve staged 356 events, welcomed 19,513 participants, and collectively clocked an outrageous 475,820 km. This means our community has effectively circled the park so many times the trees are starting to recognise us…..🌳

Our biggest crowd ever was 577 people on 3rd January this year. Clearly New Year’s resolutions either work or everyone wanted to see if the course could handle a conga line.

The most volunteers we’ve mustered in a single week is 38. And yes, that’s without one of those takeover thingys. Just pure local goodwill, persuasive emails, and the promise of free hi-vis. 🦺

And of course, the things the stats don’t count:
❤️The friendships, the community, at least one marriage, and more fun than any spreadsheet could ever handle❤️

Small community, big stats, and enough hi-vis to light up the harbour. Get on into those stats 🧐📊
