ANZAC SERVICES 2026

This year our Rover Unit attended services and vigils at Kings Park with WA Rovers, and Black Boy Hill with groups from Bilgoman and Swan Valley Districts.

As with every year, our Rover Scouts were honoured to have the opportunity to pay our respects and acknowledge the service of Australia's armed forces. Thankyou to the organisers of both Scouting events and the RSL.

SANDMOOT 2026: TOGAMOOT
📮 A postcard from Eaton 🐬
At the beginning of the month, nine Mundaring Rovers made the trek down to Eaton for
Sandmoot, and the postcard has just arrived!

We mixed and mingled with plenty of Rovers. We even joint together with our fellow hills Rover Units to create the mega-unit KALADARING. We invested our newest Rover, Joey and helped clean up and restore the Eaton property.

We visited the beach for games and fun, before FIVE Mundaring Rovers competed in a heinous rendition of Iron Guts. Catered by Parker, they feasted on mushy peas & sardines, soy sauce mocktails, sourdough starter and jellied mackeral and beans (among many other dishes).

Finally, we explored Bunbury in a scavenger hunt, enjoyed some beach fishing and sampled the region on the Gourmet Tour.

If you like the look of the adventures we get up to at Mundaring, send us a message to organise a visit to our unit!

Last year we caught up with the Darlington and Herne Hill Venturers to compete in a night of debate!

Topics included "should Scouts wear socks to camp?", "should you fight 100 duck sized emus, or 1 emu sized duck?" and "is it better to have spaghetti for hair or cheese for fingers?"

Thank you to all Units that attended! We had a blast!

UNIT CAMP 2025, a postcard from Dwellingup ✉️

In August, our Unit spent a weekend away camping at Lane Poole Reserve, joined by our Unit Fellowship.

🌲 We hiked through the reserve, visited the Forest Discovery Centre, and learnt about Dwellingup’s history - from pre-European to forestry and bushfires to emerging industries.

⛺ Back at camp, we spent time around the fire, playing card games and roasting marshmallows.

🚂 We explored the town and rode the Hotham Valley Railway out to Isandra, taking in the historic line and local scenery. We wrapped up the trip with a group lunch, sampling some of Dwellingup’s local food and drink.

ROVERS? MORE LIKE ROGAINERS

In June, we sent a team of four Rovers to compete in the WA Rogaining Association Winter 12hr "On Target" Rogaine, held in the beautiful Avon Valley.

Armed with maps, compasses, and plenty of snacks, we spent just over 9 hours on the course, covering 25 km of bush and scoring 1000 points. Out of 129 teams, we placed 59th — not bad for first-timers!

It was a day full of steep hills, prickly parrot bush, teamwork, and a few too many "I've lost my pace count, what are you on?" for comfort. Nonetheless, we had an awesome time out on the course, and feel much more confident in our navigation skills!

Safe to say, we're ready for in September.

SANDMOOT 2025: SO FRESH

📮 A postcard from Albany 🐋

Sometimes the mail takes the scenic route — but this postcard from March has finally arrived!

Five Mundaring Rovers made the trip down to Albany for Sandmoot 2025, and what a weekend it was. We met plenty of fellow Rovers, helped out with service projects on the Gilcreek property, cast a line into the King River, explored Albany’s sights, tackled the beach in 4WDs, and smashed it at Iron Guts (big congrats to Jess for taking the win!).
