🔥Camp Cooking🔥

Last week, Scouts had a turn at cooking Spaghetti Bolognese over a campfire in a Dutch oven.

Scouts prepared and cooked the meal in their patrols and enjoyed their meal followed by a game. Scouts had a great time working on teamwork, communication, cooking and fire safety to create this dish.

⚜️Trek Recap ⚜️

Scouts have had a very active start to the term creating pottery, going tenting and singing karaoke!

Scouts have also recently added their third patrol, SCORPION 🦂, with new PLs and APLs taking on leadership roles.

Scouts are very excited for this term and all the adventure it will bring!

🌌 CUBS TERM 3 SPACE MISSION 🌏
Our Cubs have commenced their space mission to learn about our solar system whilst building the pioneering and navigation skills along the way! Last night we learnt about Mercury, knot tying and having fun getting back together! This term will lead into our focus on attending Star Trek Survival Region camp in October!

Gone Home – Charles Frederick “Baggy” Yendle
26 April 1936 – 13 July 2026

It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our long-serving and much-loved Cub Leader, Charles Frederick “Baggy” Yendle, who passed away on 13 July 2026, aged 90 years. Charles dedicated an extraordinary 67 years of service as a Leader, almost entirely within the Cub Scout section.
His love for Scouting, and in particular for the Cub Scout section, inspired a lifetime of service. At 18 years of age, Charles commenced his training as a Cub Leader with 1st Lavender Bay. He later transferred to 3rd Merrylands Cubs. It was at 3rd Merrylands that Charles found his Scouting home and where his passion for developing young people would leave a lasting legacy. He then transferred to 1st Greystanes Scout Group when the groups amalgamated. We have all enjoyed his wisdom with many combined events across our District

The funeral service for Charles Frederick Yendle will be held at:
Pinegrove Memorial Park – North Chapel
Kington Street, Minchinbury NSW
Tuesday, 21 July 2026
• Service: 10:00 am
• Burial: 11:00 am
• Refreshments: 11:30 am
In honour of Charles’ lifelong dedication to Scouting, attendees are respectfully asked to wear full Scout uniform where possible.

🐍Snakes & Pinball🐍

Last night, Scouts had the opportunity to go to 2nd Northmead’s Baloo’s place to learn about reptiles and play some pinball. This is a common favourite that the Scouts rave about each year.

Scouts learnt what snakes and lizards are like in the bush and how to look after them if they encounter them, and to respect their habitat.

📸 Light Photography 📸

Last week, Scouts were joined by Venturers and one of our Rovers, Bailey, to try some light photography. Conjoined with a shelter building activity, Scouts painted a picture with a sparklers and cellophane covered torches to craft an image while a camera was set at a Shutter Speed of 10 seconds. It was lost of fun! Scouts can’t wait to try again and improve their light photography skills!
