Philippines needs your help 🙏🏻

Imagine walking into your classroom on the very first day of school, filled with excitement, only for the ground to violently shatter beneath you 💔

On Monday morning, 8 June, this became a terrifying reality for millions of children in Mindanao, Philippines, when a devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck. Instead of celebrating a new school year, terrified children were forced to run for their lives. At least 37 lives have been lost, hundreds are injured, and constant aftershocks are forcing families to sleep in the streets.

This tragedy hits incredibly close to home for the GAiN Australia community. Having run medical missions in General Santos City and visited Davao City earlier this year, our hearts are completely broken for the people we have come to love.

We are mobilising immediately to support our trusted local partners on the ground to deliver food, water, shelter, and medical supplies.

Imagine the moment a water well is officially completed for a community of over 2,800 people and a school of 500 students 🥳🎉

On Day 4, we returned to the two communities where we had been drilling and pouring concrete. The air was electric as we celebrated the opening of the water wells!

We danced around the new well, celebrated with the locals, and together as a team, we prayed a blessing over the water and every single person who will drink from it.

Standing there, we were overwhelmed by the unique journeys that brought these wells to life. We celebrated Gabriel and Caeden from , who spent 6 months training for Ironman to fund a well (they ended up raising enough for two!). And we celebrated Giles and his family, who spent 8 faithful years raising funds for their well, half of it through Giles playing his harmonica. Two completely different stories, both driven by the same heart to bring life-changing clean water to Tanzania.

But the physical water is just the beginning!

Over two beautiful evenings, we had the privilege of partnering with local churches and community leaders to host showings of the JESUS Film. Working hand-in-hand with the local church on the ground is such an important part of what we do. It ensures that the community is supported long after our team heads home.

The response was overwhelming. One of the absolute highlights for our team was watching a young boy who was so utterly intrigued, his eyes were glued to the screen the entire night.

Because of your support, we brought water for the body, and living water for the soul 💧✨

We had 336 kids, simple games, a massive footrace, and a whole lot of full hearts 💛

When you think of GAiN Water for Life Initiative, you might think of heavy machinery and drilling rigs. But clean water is only half the story. To create lasting change, health and hygiene education are absolutely vital.

Our team of 18 from Australia and Canada had the privilege of joining the GAiN Tanzania staff to run sanitation and hygiene training at a local school.

What we loved most:
✨ Bonding, playing, and laughing with the students.
✨ When hundreds of kids showed up, we turned the lesson into high-energy games, a dance, and a massive race between the kids and our team!
✨ Witnessing firsthand that safe water isn't just about infrastructure. It's about relational connection and health education.

We are so grateful for our local GAiN Tanzania team who run these exceptional programs year-round. They truly are the heartbeat of this work 🇹🇿

Our Tanzania mission has officially come to an end, and our team is currently making their way back home! Please continue to pray for their safe travels as they make the long journey back to Australia and Canada ✈️

We are returning with full hearts, and we cannot wait to share the incredible ways your support has changed lives.

Before this trip, water for one of these communities meant a long walk to a local swamp. On Day 5 of the mission, we finally got to stand at the site of one of the wells funded by our incredible team initiatives last year. Walking down to see the swamp where this community used to collect their daily water was a surreal moment for all of us.

Seeing the contrast between the two sites brought us an unexplainable joy 💦

Because of your incredible generosity and the hard work of our team on the ground, everything changed. Our team spent the week pouring concrete pads, carrying heavy pipes, and drilling deep into layers of rock and soil. Now, this community has deep-capped water well.

No more long walks to a swamp. Just safe, clean water right in their village.

During a routine consult, one man we met—who had survived nine strokes—suddenly broke down in tears.

Our team paused, listened, and prayed with him as he shared the grief of losing his son. In that special moment, God’s love met him right where he was.

Yes, we provided the medication he needed—but seeing him truly seen and comforted was the greatest gift.
