πͺ½π Rest in peace Roger ππͺ½
We're heartbroken to share this update on Roger, one of the 12 year olds we rescued from a retired greyhound racing owner a couple of months ago π
Roger was peacefully laid to rest on Sunday 23 August π He was meant to move onto his forever home that day, but on Saturday he became acutely unwell and was rushed to the emergency vet. He was diagnosed with a type of carcinoma which meant he could no longer go to the toilet due to the tumour location and pressure on his bladder/bowels.
He was farewelled surrounded with blankets and chicken nuggets with his wonderful foster carer Kevin, and his almost forever pawrent Kirstie by his side β€οΈβπ©Ή
We are extremely grateful to our volunteers who worked on saving Roger and Nelly from the horrific conditions they were living in. If he was still living in that concrete shed, he would have died a painful, horrible death all alone.
For everything Roger missed out on, we are grateful we were able to give him his dignity at his final moments. We will continue to fight to hold Greyhound Raving Victoria accountable for all they do in letting these dogs down.
Sleep well Roger. We are glad you were able to experience love for the last few months of your life. Hope you and Nelly can do some zoomies together. You will never be forgotten ππ€π
