Bellarine Catchment Network We are an environmental not-for-profit on the Bellarine Peninsula working to protect and enhance the environment. Thanks for visiting our page!

🌿 Have you heard? Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk is now open to the public! 🌿

This incredible site on Wadawurrung Country is a fantastic place to discover Indigenous species found across the Bellarine Peninsula and experience the remarkable power of nature.

Walking tracks provide an accessible way to explore the reserve, so next time you visit, take a closer look at the plants growing throughout the site. 🌱

Many have naturally regenerated through bush regeneration work — seeds that had been sitting deep within the soil’s seed bank were given the opportunity to flourish once the basin was drained.

It really is incredible to see what nature can do! 💚

You can also help protect this special place by joining the Friends of Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk to remove South African W**d Orchids and protect our native plants.

South African W**d Orchids can self-pollinate and a single plant can produce millions of tiny seeds, so removing them helps give our native plants the space to thrive.

🍃Join us on Tuesday 6th of October, 10AM–12PM at the Narrows in Point Lonsdale to restore native habitat and remove invasive w**ds.🍃

Anybody is welcome to join us and volunteer, and we have a great time working together learning to identify w**ds and native plants and connecting with members of your community.

📆Tuesday 6th of October 2026
📍The Narrows, Queenscliff, on Wadawurrung Country.
Meet at the Point Lonsdale Dog Beach Carpark (Narrows Carpark) and look out for the BCN ute!

We provide gloves, safety glasses, water and pull some w**ds, have a chat and enjoy nature!

🦅 Have you spotted a White-bellied Sea-Eagle on the Bellarine?

Keep your eyes on the skies! White-bellied Sea-Eagles are an impressive sight around the Bellarine Peninsula, often soaring above our coastlines, wetlands and waterways in search of food.

With their striking white head and belly, dark wings and impressive wingspan, these beautiful birds are hard to miss when they glide overhead.

The Bellarine’s coastal and wetland habitats provide important places for these magnificent birds to hunt, roost and raise their young. Protecting healthy waterways, wetlands and coastal habitats helps support the incredible wildlife that calls our region home. 🌿💙

Next time you're out exploring the Bellarine, look up — you never know what you might spot!

🦋 Attention Bellarine Peninsula residents! 🐦

Do you want to see more wildlife in your garden? Do you want to know if you have any interesting plants on your property? Then book a visit with us!

We still have spots left in our program for Bellarine residents. Find out how you can create a wildlife-friendly garden that will improve local biodiversity.

Each 1 hour visit includes:
🌱 Tips and information about planting locally indigenous species
🐦 Advice on w**d species and physical features like rocks and logs
🦋 An 'information pack' including plant and animal brochures
🐝 10 free locally indigenous plants from the Bellarine Landcare Nursery!

We are currently offering free 'garden visits' to residents to Bellarine Peninsula residents (except for Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff which are facilitated by the Swan Bay Environment Association). Each free, 1 hour garden visit involves a trained expert taking you through your garden to help you identify plants and animals on your property, and to show you how you can easily encourage more local native wildlife to visit your garden to thrive!

🌿 A beautiful walk on Country at the Bluff in Barwon Heads

We were lucky to spend time on Country with Ash Skinner from Wadawurrung, learning more about the rich Wadawurrung culture, history and deep connection to the Bellarine Peninsula.

This special session was held as part of the Friends of the Bluff Nature Festival, celebrating the incredible natural environment of Barwon Heads and bringing the community together to connect with nature.

There are still plenty of wonderful events happening throughout the festival! 🌱

Why not join the community for Discovering Orchids in the Park, a Film Night or Canoeing the Mangroves and explore some of the amazing natural spaces around Barwon Heads?
