What a wonderful morning we shared at Beating Hearts of Lismore today!

We celebrated a very special milestone, congratulating Wilma on her 90th birthday, while also marking the birthdays of Nancy and our volunteer Tracy.

Kath introduced Julianne and Frank Lock, who many will remember from the wonderful music they provided at our Christmas party. They joined Valentino, Judy, Vilma, Shirley and, of course, Kath out the front, leading us through a range of songs, including new songs such as Simple Simon Says and Hooked on a Feeling.

There was plenty of laughter throughout the morning. No one was quite sure why David handed out oversized “big girl pants”, but Vilma, Kath and Shirley proudly wore them for much of the day! Whether that becomes a new fashion trend remains to be seen.

Despite the appearance of some new dance poles on the floor, thankfully no one felt the urge to give them a try!

We’re looking forward to coming together again next week. In the meantime, a reminder that David’s Trivia Nights begin at the club on 24 June from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

What a wonderful way to welcome Winter! ☀️

It was lovely to gather downstairs today on a beautiful first day of winter, with not a cloud in the sky and smiles all around.

There was plenty of excitement when Rachel shared the incredible news that our Facebook posts are now reaching an astonishing 350,000 views each month. What an amazing testament to the support and interest in our Beating Hearts of Lismore community!

We also celebrated a very special milestone, congratulating Bev on her 80th birthday. 🎉 What a wonderful occasion to share with friends.

Our morning began with warm-up rounds led by our talented musicians: Judy on keyboard, Valentino on mouth organ, Kath on strings, Vilma’s beautiful voice guiding us through the songs, and Vicki on spoons keeping everyone in time. Before long we were singing Deep in the Heart of Texas and enjoying the music, laughter and friendship that make our gatherings so special.

The fun continued with movement exercises that had everyone leaning forward, back, left and right. Who knew such simple movements could be so much fun? The Hokey Pokey soon followed, reminding us all that movement and exercise play an important role in maintaining our health and wellbeing as we age.

We kissed an angel good morning, saved the last dance, and of course enjoyed Sway, with plenty of singing and smiles along the way.

As always, being the first Monday of the month meant attendees were able to enjoy a delicious $15 lunch together, providing another opportunity to connect and share stories. We were also reminded that next Monday is the King’s Birthday public holiday, so there will be no gathering. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in a fortnight.

A heartfelt thank you to David and the team at Lismore Heights Sports Club Steelworks Eatery for their ongoing support, and to our beautiful volunteers who truly are the glue that holds us all together.

We will see you all in two weeks.
