We hope it's never needed, but thanks to a great initiative from Surf Life Saving NSW, we now have a shark bite trauma kit available 24/7 on the front of the club near the roller doors, right near the publicly accessible AED.
Uncontrolled bleeding is the leading cause of death in trauma situations. The kit provides essential tools for managing severe bleeding and trauma in emergency scenarios. In it you will find 2 x Tourniquets, a 6 inch Trauma Dressing (with packing gauze), a Trauma Dressing (with packing gauze), Trauma Shears, an Emergency Blanket, 4 Pairs of Nitrile Gloves & a CPR Flow Chart Card.
In an emergency:
• Assess the situation and ensure it is safe to help.
• Check for danger to yourself and others.
• Call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
• Alert people nearby and send for help.
• Only enter the water with a flotation device.
• Never put your own life at risk
