A community member came to Encircle seeking support after a recent court appearance connected to a complex legal matter.
Although newly employed and living in private rental housing, they were struggling to stay afloat while facing rental arrears and a risk of a tenancy breach, ongoing court matters, limited access to food and essentials, financial hardship, mental health vulnerability, and difficulty managing daily tasks.
When they reached out, Homestay Brief Intervention Case Manager, Dean, provided calm, practical and compassionate support. He ensured they had immediate access to food relief, advocated to protect their tenancy, and linked them with legal services and financial counselling. His encouragement also helped them reconnect with mental health care, with all the support paced to match their capacity and priorities.
Within three weeks, they were moved from acute crisis to relative stability. Their housing was secure, finances were improving, and they felt grounded and able to plan ahead with renewed confidence.
Awesome work Dean and the Homestay team! 👏👏
