There's a wall full of pet photos in these classrooms… but why? 🐾

Our educators at Anchor Point Joondalup had a simple idea… if pets can't come to school, why not bring them in another way? 🐶😺

Because for a lot of young people, their pet is family. And when you're away from home all day, sometimes just seeing that little face on the wall makes everything better.

This is what building community in a classroom looks like ❤️

609 young people asked for help. 546 were turned away. Not because they didn't qualify. Because there was no bed. 💛

These are teenagers. 15, 16, 17 year olds who found the courage to ask for help — and were told there was no room.

At Youth Futures we are working every day to reach more young people. But the need is growing faster than the available services can keep up with.

The truth about youth homelessness in WA is urgent. And it needs to be told.

✨ Swipe for the Weekly Recap! ✨ Here’s a look at what’s been happening across Youth Futures this week:

2️⃣-3️⃣ Students have been baking cookies for our Cookies & Conversations meetings and spotted a sneaky homophone lesson along the way! A pair of pears! 🍐🍪

4️⃣ This week we said a heartfelt goodbye to Youth Worker Leah, who has left an undoubted impact on the team and the young people she supported. You will be missed! 💛

5️⃣ Our young people spent time giving back this week, volunteering at Perth Wildlife Hospital. What an incredible experience! 🦘

6️⃣ Great to see a young person supported through TINOCA Accommodation exploring education opportunities at Anchor Point. This is a wonderful example of how collaboration between Youth Futures programs can provide holistic support 🌱

7️⃣ Classroom accommodations in action at Youth Futures! Here is our teacher meeting a student in the comfy corner to work through corrections on her assessment. Because every student deserves to feel supported. 💙

8️⃣ There’s nothing quite like a day at the park to close out your week!

That’s it for this week’s recap — have a great weekend everybody! 👋

Nearly 1 in 4 homeless Australians is a young person. 💛

And most of them are invisible. They're not sleeping on the street — they're couch surfing, escaping unsafe homes, or ageing out of care with nowhere to turn.

Youth homelessness is more common than most people realise. And it can happen to any young person.

At Youth Futures we work alongside young people experiencing homelessness every single day — through crisis accommodation, transitional housing, outreach and case management across Perth.

Last year at Djinda alone, 546 young people were turned away because there was no bed available. The need is real, and it is urgent.

Want to understand what youth homelessness actually looks like and why it happens? We've written a full explainer on the blog.

Every young person learns differently and deserves an education pathway that supports who they are and where they want to go 💛

At Youth Futures, we know some students thrive in hands on, flexible and relationship focused learning environments where they feel seen, supported and empowered to build their future.

That’s why we created FutureReady, helping young people explore pathways, build confidence and take steps toward the future they want on their terms.

Our young people just taught WA Premier Roger Cook how to play drums. No big deal. 🥁😄

Students from our Clarkson Community School were back at the Doordaak Kepup Youth Innovation Hub when WA Premier Roger Cook paid a visit.

And for our young people, this was a huge highlight! ✨

From the music studio to creative arts, sewing, 3D printing, VR and gaming, this place truly lets young people be themselves. And seeing Premier Cook get amongst it all? Absolutely iconic.

Thank you City of Wanneroo for welcoming us back, and thank you Premier Roger Cook for spending time with our students.

You're always welcome back for another drum lesson. 🤘
