Radio and Electronics Association of Southern Tasmania Interested in Electronics or Amateur Radio? Like REAST Today!

The Radio and Electronics Association of Southern Tasmania's objects and purposes include:

* for the association of persons interested in and for the encouragement and development of radio communication and electronics in all its modes;

* to encourage, assist and educate all persons interested in all aspects of amateur radio and allied techniques with special reference to licensed radio amateurs and to promote the extension of interest and participation in such pursuits;

* participation in activities using radio communication equipment and techniques within the terms of amateur licensing as amended from time to time;

Members of the club come from all walks of life and we meet to share a common interest in experimental radio communications and electronic experimentation.

**The Biggest Amateur Radio Conference Event of the Year!**

Tassie Ham-E-Con is coming up, and tickets are now available!

This is REAST’s premier event of the year, bringing together amateur radio operators from across the world for a day of presentations, displays, demonstrations and plenty of opportunities to catch up with others in the hobby.

Some highlights this year:

Friday:

- Mystery History Radio Tour of Hobart
- BBQ dinner at the REAST Clubrooms for conference attendees and partners.

Saturday:

- Speakers from across VK and the World with presentations and talks.
- Socialize with amateurs from all over VK/ZL at dinner Saturday night

Sunday:

- More Presentations & Talks
- Summits on the Air (SOTA) Activation of VK7/SC-001 Mt Wellington
- Microwave contacts on 23cm, 9cm, 6cm and 3cm using our passive reflector – Mt Wellington

Last week, the REAST Committee met in person for our mid-year debrief, taking the opportunity to reflect on what’s working well, where we can improve, and what the future looks like for the club.

Key topics included clubroom improvements, better communication and updates for members, member engagement, and the results of our recent survey - which we’ll be sharing with members soon.

We’re looking forward to a busy and exciting second half of the year, with some great project builds, including the NTP Clock, as well as more presentations and activities to come.

Thanks to everyone who continues to contribute, get involved, and help shape the future of REAST!

Tickets are limited, so be sure to secure yours quickly! The cost of entry is a $10 donation per adult and $5 per child (plus processing fee). Children under 6 years old are free.

The night will also include demonstrations by REAST (Radio and Electronics Association of Southern Tasmania), and attendees will be able to chat with researchers from the University of Tasmania and representatives from Dark Sky Tasmania, as well as representatives from the Australian Space Agency.

Grab a hot drink and bite to eat from the onsite food van courtesy of Bean and Leaf.
