Today, we are proud to recognise Gary and Carol Reid as Captain Sponsors of Community Flights, following their generous $5,000 donation.

Gary and Carol have been part of the Community Flights journey from the very beginning, standing alongside us as we have grown from an idea into a service that helps people across our region access vital healthcare.

Their ongoing support, generosity and belief in our mission have helped us continue to remove the barriers that distance can create for patients and their families.

As a community-funded charity, partnerships like this make our work possible. Every contribution helps ensure that no one has to choose between accessing medical care and the cost or challenge of getting there.

Thank you, Gary and Carol, for your incredible support over the years and for helping us bridge the gap to healthcare access.

πŸ’™ Thank You, Dan Murphy's Hervey Bay! πŸ’™

Today, Community Flights Operations Manager Elyse had the pleasure of meeting with the team from Dan Murphy's Hervey Bay at the Hervey Bay Aeroclub Inc. to share more about the work we do, showcase our aircraft, and discuss how community support helps us keep regional Australians connected to vital healthcare.

We are incredibly grateful to announce that Dan Murphy's Hervey Bay has generously donated $1,000 to Community Flights through their Regional Heroes Giving Program.

This support will help us continue providing free flights for patients who need to travel long distances for specialist medical treatment, reducing both the financial and emotional burden that often comes with accessing healthcare in regional communities.

It was fantastic to have the opportunity to share our story and show firsthand how community donations directly impact the lives of the people we help every week.

From all of us at Community Flights, thank you to the entire team at Dan Murphy's Hervey Bay for recognising the importance of our mission and for investing back into the local community. Your generosity will help us change lives, one flight at a time. βœˆοΈπŸ’™

✈️ Flight 191 – Hervey Bay β†’ Redcliffe

On June 3rd, 2026, Community Flights volunteer pilot Tahlene flew patient Warwick from Hervey Bay to Brisbane aboard her Cessna 172, helping him access important medical care without the challenges of arranging long-distance travel πŸ’™βœˆοΈ

With beautiful flying conditions across South East Queensland, Warwick enjoyed a smooth journey south as Tahlene safely delivered him to Brisbane for his medical treatment.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to St John Ambulance, who assisted with ground transport from the airport to the hospital in Brisbane, helping ensure Warwick's journey continued safely and comfortably after landing.

At Community Flights, every mission is made possible by the generosity of volunteer pilots, support organisations, sponsors, and community partners who work together to remove barriers to healthcare for regional Australians.

Every flight is about more than getting from A to B, it's about making sure people can access the care they need, when they need it most.

✈️ Flight 190 – Hervey Bay ↔ Brisbane

On June 1st, 2026, Community Flights volunteer pilot Kurt flew two of our young patients and their mum, Maddii, from Hervey Bay to Brisbane and safely home again aboard the Community Flights Piper Arrow, helping them access important specialist medical appointments without the stress and expense of long-distance travel πŸ’™βœˆοΈ

To help make the journey as smooth as possible, Community Flights arranged Uber transport for the family to and from the airport in Brisbane, while our wonderful friends at TransitCare generously provided additional ground transport assistance free of charge to get back to the airport. We are incredibly grateful for their ongoing support in helping regional families access the healthcare they need.

While the family attended their appointments, Kurt made the most of the time by taking fellow Community Flights volunteer pilot Shaunee flying to complete some valuable training hours before returning to Brisbane Airport to collect the family and fly them safely home to Hervey Bay.

These flights are only possible thanks to the dedication of our volunteer pilots, support teams, sponsors, and community partners who work together to make healthcare more accessible for regional Australians πŸ’™

Every flight represents more than just transport, it represents a community coming together to support families when they need it most.

πŸŽ‰ What a Day to Remember! πŸŽ‰

On Sunday, we celebrated Community Flights' 4th Birthday at the Hervey Bay Aeroclub Inc., and what an incredible celebration it was!

Firstly, thank you to everyone who came along, enjoyed the day, booked joy flights, grabbed a coffee or sausage, made a donation, sang along to the music, and helped us celebrate four amazing years of changing lives through the gift of flight. The day simply wouldn't have been possible without the support of our wonderful community.

A huge thank you to Brendan Stonestreet from Hervey Bay Videography for generously donating his time and talent to capture these fantastic photos and preserve the memories of such a special day.

To our amazing volunteer crew, Karen, Zara, Holly, Susie, Aaron and Sam, thank you for everything you did behind the scenes and throughout the event. Your hard work, dedication and smiling faces helped make the day run so smoothly.

Thank you also to Karen Chard's wonderful singing crew for providing entertainment throughout the day. You helped create such a fun and welcoming atmosphere for everyone who attended.

We are incredibly grateful to Handyhire Queensland for supplying the tables and chairs, Veruca for providing face painting and hair braiding for the kids, and Burrum brews and bites for bringing their coffee van along and keeping everyone fuelled throughout the day.

A special thank you to Gerry and his crew for cooking up a fantastic German sausage sizzle, and to Warren for running the bar and helping make the venue such a great place to celebrate.

Thank you to the Fraser Lions Hervey Bay for joining us on the day, selling their delicious cakes and continuing to support Community Flights in so many ways. We are proud to have such wonderful community partners.

We would also like to thank Windmill Bakery Eli Waters and Jess from QCWA Point Vernon-Pialba for donating cupcakes and icing, and The Cheesecake Shop for generously donating our beautiful birthday cake.

A huge thank you to Phil from Bay City Engraving for producing the stunning plaques presented to our Major Sponsors. They looked absolutely amazing.

Thank you to Warren and the Hervey Bay Aero Club for allowing us to host the event at such a fantastic venue, and for all the effort that went into preparing and cleaning the club beforehand. Your support is greatly appreciated.

To Dan, thank you for donating your time and skills to provide joy flights throughout the day, and thank you to everyone who purchased a joy flight to support Community Flights.

We are also incredibly grateful to Gary and Carol Reid for their generous $5,000 donation on the day and for sharing their beautiful Excalibur with visitors for joy rides in exchange for donations. We'd also like to thank the lovely owner of the beautiful Buick who joined them in offering rides and helping create a truly memorable experience for our guests.

A very special thank you to the The BarFly Club Hervey Bay for their $5,000 donation. Your generosity will directly help us continue providing free flights to people in need throughout our region.

To everyone who made a donation, no matter the size, thank you. Every dollar helps us continue our mission of ensuring distance is never a barrier to accessing medical care and support.

Finally, thank you to all of our Sponsors, supporters, volunteers, pilots, donors and community partners. Community Flights has come a long way in four years, and every milestone we've achieved has been because of people like you standing beside us.

If you missed out on a joy flight, we are taking bookings for THIS Friday, Saturday and Sunday for our next event - you can book online here - https://communityflights.org.au/fundraising-flights/

Here's to four incredible years, and an even brighter future ahead. βœˆοΈπŸ’™
