✈️ Flights 202 & 203 – Hervey Bay ↔ Archerfield

On August 5th, 2026, Community Flights volunteer pilot Dan took to the skies in the Community Flights Piper Arrow for another rewarding day of helping regional Queenslanders access essential healthcare across South East Queensland. πŸ’™βœˆοΈ

The day began with Flight 202, flying a patient and her carer from Hervey Bay to Archerfield so she could travel to Brisbane for surgery and the care she required.

Rather than returning with an empty aircraft, Dan was able to complete Flight 203 by bringing another patient home to Hervey Bay after five nights in hospital. We had flown this patient to Brisbane the previous week for treatment, making this return journey the final step in their healthcare trip.

A special thank you to TransitCare, who once again provided complimentary ground transport between Archerfield Airport and the hospitals in Brisbane, helping ensure our patients could continue their journey safely and comfortably.

Every Community Flights mission is carefully coordinated to help patients overcome the challenges of travelling long distances for medical care across South East Queensland. By making the most of every flight, we're able to support more people while ensuring they can focus on what matters most, their health and recovery.

A huge thank you to Dan for generously volunteering his time and flying skills to make these journeys possible.

✈️ Flight 201 – Brisbane β†’ Hervey Bay

On 30 July 2026, Community Flights volunteer pilot Kurt flew Flight 201, returning two patients home from Archerfield Airport to Hervey Bay aboard the Community Flights Piper Arrow after they had attended their medical appointments in Brisbane. πŸ’™βœˆοΈ

After what can often be a long and tiring day of appointments, being able to fly home the very same day makes a world of difference for our patients. Kurt's generosity and dedication helped ensure both passengers returned home safely, comfortably, and without the added burden of a lengthy drive.

Our volunteer pilots give more than just their time, they provide a vital service that helps remove barriers to healthcare for regional Australians. Every mission reflects the compassion and commitment of the people who make Community Flights possible.

✈️ Flight 200 – Hervey Bay β†’ Brisbane

On 30 July 2026, Community Flights volunteer pilot Tahlene was wheels up bright and early, departing Hervey Bay at 6:30am in her Cessna 172 to fly two patients to Archerfield Airport for important medical appointments in Brisbane. πŸ’™βœˆοΈ

After safely delivering both patients, Tahlene completed her leg of the journey and remained in Brisbane. To ensure the patients could return home the very same day, another of our wonderful volunteer pilots flew a second Community Flights aircraft to bring them safely back to Hervey Bay following their appointments.

It takes an incredible team effort to make these missions possible, and this flight is a perfect example of our volunteers working together to ensure regional patients can access the specialist healthcare they need, without the burden of long-distance travel.

At Community Flights, every mission is made possible by the generosity of our volunteer pilots, support organisations, sponsors, and community partners who work together to remove barriers to healthcare within SE QLD.

On July 29th, 2026, Community Flights volunteer pilot Tahlene flew 3 patients back and forth between Hervey Bay to Brisbane using a Cessna 172, helping them access essential medical care without the stress of long-distance travel. πŸ’™βœˆοΈ

Tahlene safely flew our patients and carers to Archerfield Airport, ensuring they arrived in Brisbane for their medical appointment before returning two of them home after their treatment. Thanks to the dedication of our volunteer pilots, patients can access essential healthcare without the added stress of long-distance travel.

A heartfelt thank you also goes to TransitCare, who generously provided complimentary ground transport from Archerfield Airport to the Hospitals, ensuring our patients journeys continued safely and comfortably after landing.

At Community Flights, every mission is made possible by the generosity of our volunteer pilots, support organisations, sponsors, and community partners who work together to remove barriers to healthcare for regional Australians within SE QLD.

✨ A Partnership That Keeps Us Flying βœˆοΈπŸ’™

We are incredibly grateful to announce that the Hervey Bay RSL have once again shown their unwavering support for Community Flights, committing $10,000 per year for the next three years to cover the cost of our office lease.

This marks the third year in a row that the Hervey Bay RSL has supported our charity, and we simply can't thank them enough for believing in our mission and the difference we make in our community.

Having our office at the Hervey Bay Aero Club is so much more than just having a workplace. It provides a welcoming space where our patients and their families can wait comfortably before their flights, where our volunteers can meet, plan and connect, and where we can safely store our equipment and carry out the day-to-day work that keeps Community Flights operating.

Being based at the airport means we're right where we need to be, close to our aircraft, our volunteer pilots and, most importantly, the people we are here to help. This generous support ensures we can continue to maintain that vital presence without taking funds away from what matters most - providing free medical transport flights for patients who need them.

To everyone at the Hervey Bay RSL, thank you for standing beside us for another three years. Your ongoing generosity is helping us continue Closing the Gap to Healthcare Access, and we couldn't do it without community partners like you. πŸ’™
