Then and now. Gympie South Lions Goldrush float in 2003 (on the back of Rob's Datsun ute). Today's float, Goldrush 2026 (on the back of Rob's 1927 Chev truck).

Gympie South Lions proudly participated in the Gympie Gold Rush 2026 parade. Rob's 1927 Chev truck carried a display of Lions cakes and puddings. The old Gympie South Lions santa sleigh was resurected for the day. The sleigh, with a couple of boombers and Santa, was towed along behind the Chev truck. The leaping lions, mounted on the front wheels of the truck, were a real eye catcher. The lions also roared as they made their way along Mary Street. Not to be out done, Christmas music accompanied Santa on the sleigh. The weather was kind but we were prepared for rainy conditions. Lions are prepared and can leap into action.
We had fun designing and building the float. It was on a similiar design to our float back in 2003.
