🚒 Monday Night Training at Grovedale CFA

Our crews were back on the tools last night, putting in some solid pump and hose training.

Members worked through hydrant operations, establishing water supply, pump operation, hose management and branch techniques, giving both newer and experienced members the chance to build confidence and sharpen their skills.

Regular training like this means that when the pager goes, our crews are ready to work safely and effectively as a team.

A great night with plenty of water moved and plenty of hose to pack up afterwards! 💦🚒

🔥 Trained and Prepared for Summer 🚒

This week marks the start of our annual pre-summer training at Grovedale CFA.

Every year, all operational members are required to complete this training to ensure we are prepared and ready to respond when needed, particularly throughout the Summer fire danger period.

Our training covers a range of essential skills, including:
🧯 Entrapment drills (burn over/under)
📻 Radio communications
🚒 Tanker pump operations
🗺️ Map reading
☀️ Heat safety

This training will continue throughout September, helping our members maintain their skills and readiness for whatever challenges the upcoming fire season may bring.

Over the past couple of weeks, members have also completed additional training in chainsaw operations and Level 1 Incident Control, further strengthening our brigade’s capabilities.

Training, preparation and teamwork are key to keeping our members and community safe. 💪

🔥 Firefighter Stair Climb 2026 🔥

A massive effort from Grovedale CFA members Joel, Ryan, Jack, Nathan, Philip, Chad and Will, who took on the Firefighter Stair Climb today!

Together, the team raised an incredible $3,669 towards the cause! an outstanding result for an important cause.

Well done to all seven climbers, and a huge thank you to everyone who donated and supported the team along the way. 👏🚒🔥

On Saturday 12th September, eight members of Grovedale Fire Brigade will tackle 28 floors in 25kg of firefighting gear to raise funds and awareness for cancer research, mental health, depression and su***de prevention.

🚒 Grovedale Fire brigade- Another busy year of service.

Behind every pager activation is a volunteer who leaves their family, work, sleep or plans to help someone in need.

We're incredibly proud of what our members have achieved throughout the 2025/26 financial year and grateful to everyone who supports our brigade behind the scenes. None of it would be possible without our volunteers, their families, employers and our amazing community.

Thank you for continuing to support Grovedale Fire Brigade. It's a privilege to serve our community, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

AusAlert is being tested in Geelong, Victoria at 2:00 pm tomorrow afternoon. ⚠️

Here’s what you need to know. 👇

A test AusAlert will be sent to all compatible mobile devices in the Belmont and Highton area of City of Greater Geelong at around 2:00 pm on Thursday 18 June 2026.

If you are near the test area with a compatible mobile device, you may receive the alert. 📱

Devices may vibrate and play a siren-like warning sound for about 10 seconds. An AusAlert may appear on your device screen. It will clearly say it is a test. You don't need to do anything.

There will also be a national test on Monday 27 July 2026, at around 2:00 pm AEST. AusAlerts will be sent to all compatible mobile devices in Australia.

Ensure you can receive AusAlerts by installing the latest software update and restarting your device. Updates also fix bugs, improve performance and may boost battery life. ✅

This afternoon, members of Grovedale Fire Brigade had the pleasure of visiting Lifestyle Mount Duneed to deliver a community education session focused on home fire safety.

Residents learned practical skills including:
🧯 How and when to use a fire extinguisher
🔥 Safe use of a fire blanket
🏠 Home fire safety awareness
🚨 Simple steps to help prevent emergencies and stay safe at home

It was fantastic to see so many residents getting involved, asking questions, and taking part in the session. Community education is one of the most effective ways we can help keep our local community safe.

To top off a Sunday afternoon, brigade members and residents also enjoyed a few friendly games of lawn bowls and pickleball, providing a great opportunity to connect, share stories, and have some fun along the way.

A big thank you to everyone at Lifestyle Mount Duneed for having us. We look forward to continuing to work with our community to promote fire safety and preparedness.
