Yesterday was a proud day for genU, genU Training and MatchWorks as we welcomed Department of Social Services Secretary Michael Lye, Ability First Australia CEO Andrew Rowley and Claire Marsh from Goodwill Engineering to experience our employment ecosystem in action.

From MatchWorks participants learning to make the perfect coffee, developing retail skills and exploring careers in horticulture and construction, to our Property Care supported employees sharing their experiences after a day's work, the visit showcased the power of meaningful employment, training, inclusion and person-centred services.

We were proud to demonstrate how employment is one of the most powerful forms of participation, delivering independence, social connection, wellbeing and economic contribution. Through MatchWorks, genU Training, Social Enterprises and our broader employment ecosystem, we support people at every stage of their journey, providing practical experience, skill development and career pathways that build capability and confidence.

At genU, we believe every person should have the opportunity to develop skills, build confidence, participate in their community and contribute through employment, creating pathways that enable people with disability to achieve their goals and participate fully in Australia's social and economic future.

Shared success. Improving lives now and into the future.

The streets of Perth are still buzzing and the smiles are still shining after more than 30,000 people came together for the 2026 Chevron City to Surf for genU.

From runners chasing personal bests to families walking side by side, this year's event was a powerful celebration of community, inclusion and purpose.

Every dollar raised will help fund accessibility upgrades in homes across Australia, supporting people living with disability to live more independently and improve their quality of life.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, fundraised, cheered from the sidelines and helped make this year's event such a success. Together with Chevron Australia and our partners, you've made a real difference.

Everyone deserves a place where they feel they belong. For Ella, that place is Gamer 💜

What started as a shared interest in games has grown into something much bigger: friendships, confidence, and a community that accepts her for who she is.

After trying different activities over the years, Ella's mum, Debbie, says Gamer is the one she genuinely looks forward to each week.
