As you all know we have had the honour to demonstrate Lace for the last few years at the Lost Trades Fair.

A beautiful short film about the Lost Trades Fair has recently been shared by Lisa and Glen. They state -

'The incredibly talented Chris Appleby (director) and Aaron Bickford (camera) have been capturing the magic at lost trades for more than a decade.

This film has been submitted for a short Film Festival Castlemaine and will head to the USA as part of a short film festival where the theme is human creativity and authenticity.'

Congratulations all involved and we look forward to demonstrating again at next years event.

The Lost Trades movement celebrates the finest human craftsmanship. Artisans use unique skills and rare trades to craft items of beauty - handmade, sustainable, authentic and meticulously made to last. These items are heirloom quality built for generations.

A wonderful post celebrating member Chung who knitted a replica of Sir Douglas Mawson's balaclava for his recent trip to Antarctica based on a pattern by Artlab Australia.

We love sharing posts that celebrate and meld handmade textiles, use of local materials and textile history.

A member recently visited the NGV and spotted Mary, Lady Vere in all her lacey glory. Many members helped contribute through the Larkin appeal towards the purchase of the piece by the gallery.

Just as there is an art to making lace, there is also an art in painting it.
