Victorian Branch Australian Lace Guild The Victorian Branch of the Australian Lace Guild aims to promote lacemaking, support and connect people who make all forms of lace lacemaking. Entry is $10.00.

The Australian Lace Guild was incorporated in 1985 and operates nationally with branches in each state. The aims and objective and the Australian Lace guild are to promote lacemaking as a craft throughout Australia and to bring together people interested in all forms of lace and lacemaking; to provide a forum for the exchange of information on lace and lacemaking; to establish and maintain standar

ds of excellence in the craft of lacemaking in all forms; for personal and public education. The Victorian Branch of the Australian Lace Guild has its own committee. The branch actively seeks to promote lace and lacemaking throughout Victoria and holds Lace Days on the fourth Saturday of odd months, from 10am - 4pm at:


Briphil House
80 Gardenvale Road
Gardenvale. Our program includes:

•Making lace;


•Meeting other lace makers;


•Participating in workshops and classes


•Borrowing from the library


•Time for buying lace making goods from suppliers; and


•Hearing guest speakers. Also, lace making sessions and workshops are held at Briphil House on the fourth Saturday of even months (except December). Classes are conducted in Ashburton, Gardenvale, Geelong, Mitcham, Notting HIll. Lace making groups meet regularly in:

Colac

Echuca (Rich River)

Heywood

Latrobe Valley

Malvern

Mildura

Mt Eliza

A new online lace class has been posted:
Beginning Bucks Point
Instructor: Marion Warzel

Course Description: Bucks Point Lace is a beautiful English style of point ground lace. It is characterized by a hexagonal mesh ground and motifs defined by outlining gimp threads. In this class we learn the basics, including the point ground, picot, catch pin, gimp and honeycomb.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Prerequisite: Intermediate experience with Torchon lace

Dates: 4 Tuesdays – October 6, 13, 20, 27, 2026

Time: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm PDT

Dates and Times in Australia and New Zealand: 4 Wednesdays – October 7, 14, 21, 28, 2026; 7am – 9am AWST / 9am – 11am AEST / 10am – 12pm AEDT / 12pm – 2pm NZDT

Registration Fee: $100

Our August lacemaking day and Annual Lace Taster Day is this Saturday! We cannot wait to meet all those who have booked in for classes. Booking is now closed with all bar one class type booked out!

We meet at 80 Gardenvale Rd Gardenvale the entry is off Magnolia rd - doors open at 10 am. The morning Taster classes start at 10:15 and the afternoon classes at 1:15. Our trading table will be present with stock curated towards beginners.

There is street parking and a we are a 600m stroll from Gardenvale station and shops. Tea and coffee provided.

If you are curious about lace or the Guild you are welcome to pop in to any of or lace making or lace days. Your first visit is free.

A reminder that it is lacemaking day this Saturday from 10am at 80 Gardenvale Road Gardenvale. It is also our annual taster day. All classes except the knitting are booked out so there will be new people around this weekend.
