The AOF provides awards to travel & work overseas for Australians who have completed a trade apprenti Why are we here?

The Australian Overseas Foundation (AOF) is a non-profit organisation providing awards to travel and work overseas for Australians between the ages of 21 and 34, who have completed a trade apprenticeship or vocational traineeship to Certificate Level III. The AOF's goal is to identify outstanding young vocationally-trained Australians, and through its awards, help develop their leadership skills,

and increase their knowledge and experience that is subsequently reinvested in Australian industry on their return. The AOF exists because we strongly believe that supporting the personal development of outstanding young people will help our country to thrive. Australian industry can see the long term benefits of young people working overseas, honing their skills and obtaining state-of-the-art trade experience to keep Australia at the forefront of technical innovation and knowhow.

We’re proud to see 2026 Australian Overseas Foundation Scholarship recipient Indi Choma featured in today’s Forster Fortnightly!

Indi is a qualified Automotive Technician with Great Lakes Automotive and has already made her mark on the industry, including winning silver in Automotive Mechanical Technology at the WorldSkills Australia National Championships.

Indi’s scholarship will support her to undertake international professional development, gaining new technical knowledge, global industry insights and connections that she can bring back to Australia.

Congratulations, Indi, a fantastic recognition of your skill, determination and commitment to the automotive industry. We’re incredibly proud to support you and look forward to seeing where this opportunity takes you.

The Australian Overseas Foundation is pleased to announce Indianna (Indi) Choma as a 2026 Australian Overseas Foundation Scholar ✈️

An Automotive Technician from the Mid North Coast of NSW, Indi has been recognised for her commitment to excellence in the automotive industry. Through her scholarship, she will undertake an international professional development experience over the next 12 months, gaining exposure to world-leading automotive technologies, training and industry practices before bringing that knowledge back to Australia.

Since 1956, more than 330 Australian Overseas Foundation scholars have travelled internationally to develop their skills, broaden their industry knowledge and strengthen Australian industry.

Congratulations, Indi! We look forward to following your scholarship journey over the coming year.
