The Tasmanian Bike Collective exist to create a better future for young people struggling at school or home. Now operating in 3 locations, each program works with local young people to increase work readiness skills, increase recreational opportunities and build healthy community around restoring, selling and riding bikes. We run the Risdon Vale, Huon Valley and Clarence Plains Bike Collective's w

ith all workshops teaching young people how to restore and maintain bikes but also running as a second hand bike shop (not-for-profit). The main focus is for young people to develop job and life skills whilst a secondary benefit is providing affordable bikes to the community.

Have you discovered Bikes for Good yet? 🚲

Our bike shop in Derwent Park is not your average bike store.

When you buy a bike, get yours serviced, or pick up a helmet or set of gloves — every dollar goes straight back into the Tasmanian Bike Collective's youth mentoring programs.

It's a bike shop with a purpose. And right now, the showroom is stocked with new bikes, quality refurbished bikes, e-bikes, and a full range of accessories.

The bikes are important. But they're really just the tool. 💚

What we're really building is character — patience, persistence, generosity, pride in a job well done.

We see it in the way crew members help each other troubleshoot a stubborn bottom bracket. In the way they cheer when someone completes their first full build.

Those are the moments that stay with us.

Our work is only possible because of the community around us. 💚

In 2025, our incredible volunteers put in 2,258 hours — that's over $117,000 worth of support for our young people!

Combined with over 400 donated bikes from the public, this is a true team effort.

We couldn't do it without you, Tassie!

💛 We've been meaning to share this one for a while.

We wanted to take this opportunity to not only thank Derby Church for their support of the Tasmanian Bike Collective, but also to shine a light on the incredible work they do in the Derby community — supporting families, creating connection and showing up for people when it matters most.

The values we see in them are the same ones we try to live by every day at the Collective. When organisations like Derby Church and TasBC work alongside each other, the impact on a community is greater than either of us could achieve alone.

Partnerships like this remind us that our work is bigger than bikes — it's about community, connection and care for one another.

We're proud to partner with Derby Church, a community anchor in one of Tasmania's most special towns.

Thank you, Derby Church. 💚

💚 A worthy cause we’re happy to help share.

Shifting Gears for Women with Parkinson’s is raising awareness of the unique challenges faced by women living with Parkinson’s, while helping create greater connection, support and understanding within our Tasmanian community.

Importantly, funds raised through the campaign will be reinvested directly into the Tasmanian community, supporting local initiatives for women and families affected by Parkinson’s.

Sometimes making a difference starts simply by helping an important message reach more people.

Take a few minutes to learn more about Shifting Gears for Women with Parkinson’s and, if you can, help spread the word by sharing it with your own community. 💚

Love what we do at the Tasmanian Bike Collective and want to lend a hand behind the scenes? 🚲✨

We’re assembling a brand-new volunteer Fundraising & Events Team to help keep our workshops thriving and expand our reach to more young Tasmanians!

We’re looking for people who:
✔️ Are organised and love bringing community initiatives to life
✔️ Don't mind tapping into their personal networks to garner support
✔️ Can commit to a monthly meeting (online or in person) and follow through between catch-ups
✔️ Operate with unconditional positive regard and high standards

You don't need to be able to fix bikes to make a real difference. Your time, energy, and connections can help secure the funds that keep our doors open.

👉 Ready to learn more? Fill out our quick Volunteer EOI form and our team will be in touch to talk through what’s involved, before any commitments have to be made! https://wkf.ms/3NivUt1
