*UPDATE: Survey closing date extended until 22 June*

Last November, the State Government announced an independent Needs Analysis of the Neighbourhood House Network, recognising increasing demand on Houses and the need for long-term sustainability.

Neighbourhood Houses are a vital part of Tasmania's broader service system. Through their community development approach, they provide welcoming, trusted and accessible places where people can connect, find support, build skills and strengthen their communities.

Houses are increasingly responding to growing and complex needs, and many are stretched. This survey is part of the statewide Needs Analysis, and your input will help shape what’s needed to support communities into the future.

The survey is open to everyone - whether you have volunteered, worked, or accessed a Neighbourhood House, or work for an organisation that partners with Houses, all responses are vital. Even if you have never been to a Neighbourhood House but care about the future of Tasmanian communities, this survey is for you.

The survey closes on 22 June (previously 15 June). Please share with your networks, and thanks for your support!

Neighbourhood Houses in Tassie joined the largest community-led lunch this May for Neighbourhood House Week!

Across Australia, more than 12,000 people came together to connect over a shared meal, recognising the vital role Houses play in bringing people together and reducing social isolation.

One week. 245 events across all six states. 12,000+ people through the door. 7,310 meals shared.

That was Neighbourhood Community House and Centre (NCHC) Week 2026. 'Your Place to Connect' came to life right across Australia, bringing people together through events, activities, shared meals, and community connection.

The media noticed too, with 41 stories reaching an audience of over 642,000 Australians, including coverage on Channel 10, 7News, WIN News, and ABC Radio nationally.

This week (27 May - 3 June) is Reconciliation Week.

The theme this year is All In, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

All In makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change.

The theme reminds us that advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights isn’t a passive activity, and it is not solely the responsibility of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, who have carried the weight of championing, explaining and acting for far too long.

Reconciliation will not happen by itself, and it will not happen without all of us.

NHT stands with the Tasmanian Aboriginal people, the Palawa, and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the struggle for truth, treaty, and justice.

This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land 🖤💛❤️
