The Chronicle of High Tide III
Dark storms raged on as Her Excellency Arabella made the arduous journey homeward from High Tides III. When the scheming Baron of Stormhold rallied his troops and marched toward the High Tides mark to lay claim upon the sands of our people for the third year of this tiresome campaign, Arabella knew she could not stand idle. Ynys Fawr has been patient, enduring Stormhold’s unreasonable demands and, on occasion, demonstrating our generosity by granting their barony use of our lands on the day of their choosing. Nevertheless, Stormhold continues to cry outrage, laying claim to shores that are not theirs by right.
Her Excellency travelled north to the place where our borders meet, seeking the fragile promise of peace. Yet peace was not to be found. Five Ynys Fawrians set out across the sea, braving Kraken‑infested waters for a cause both just and true. Upon landing safely on foreign shores, we were met by Baron Gersh, who serves as a scout amidst those treacherous lands.
To safeguard our journey, Her Excellency issued a call to all who would rise in defence of the Kingdom’s honour. Answering that call came the scholars and fighters of the College of Passalaqua, nestled in the peaceful, mercantile barony of St Florian; the sharp‑witted strategists of Adora; and our dear cousins from Krae Glas. The stalwart warriors of Innilgard offered their strength as mercenaries in service to Ynys Fawr. A fair price was named, negotiations were brief, and soon a binding agreement had been struck.
The war raged on for two full days as combatants took to the field to test their mettle and fire their arrows with unwavering aim. From the fierce clashes upon the bridge to the brutal engagements fought with steel and spear, both fields became scenes worthy of song, a spectacle of courage, skill, and unyielding resolve.
As the heat continued to rise, the populace sought refuge along the shoreline. Some ventured to the water’s edge to feel the ocean’s pull, while others tested their wits and skill in friendly challenge. Upon the sands, two Ynys Fawrians set to work crafting a marvel that rivalled any fortress: an imposing sandcastle masterpiece, sturdy enough in spirit to withstand even the fiercest storm.
As night drew on, we returned to our feast halls, where negotiations unfolded once more. After such displays of prowess upon both field and sand, it was clear that each side stood equal in might, and thus no outright winner could be named. As Their Excellencies deliberated before the court, a young voice rose above the gathered crowd. With unexpected boldness, they proclaimed that since Ynys Fawr and Stormhold were too entangled in their quarrels to rule justly, the custodianship of the land should be granted unto them instead.
Who, you might ask, would dare to be so bold? None other than the very collegian from Passalaqua who, only that morning, had pledged their allegiance so honourably to Ynys Fawr. One would think that from the peaceful and mercantile barony of St Florian we might expect the steady hand of diplomacy and the promise of peace. Instead, we were met with ambitions more suited to greed than that of goodwill.
We had hoped that our dear cousins of St Florian would not lend credence to such a brazen claim, but no sooner had the words of their emissary been uttered did Their Excellencies of St Florian rise in fierce support, rallying swiftly to their cause.
Ynys Fawr and Stormhold will not stand for such an insult on our hospitality, and when faced with the rising might of the north, we shall stand firm. Together we will rise to protect and defend our shores, ensuring that the balance of honour will not be so easily overturned.
So, should our northern cousins march south with the beating drums of war next summer, they will be met by the unyielding strength of our people. The Baronies united beneath our colours: a resplendent sea of blue and gold.
YIS,
Arabella de Darlington
Baroness of Ynys Fawr
TLDR: Should St Florian provide aid to the college of Passalaqua, Stormhold and Ynys Fawr will unite and defend our lands against the not so peaceful and mercantile barony of the north
Our sincere thanks to Lady Julia of the Ravens and to Bridgette and Susanna for capturing so many wholesome moments during this event, to the stewarding team, and all who willing play into the shenanigans.
