The Lansdowne Club was formed in 1986 by a group of Irish born business people living in Australia.

At the time there were large numbers of professionally skilled Irish people taking up residence in Australia.

☘️You know you’ve been in Australia a while when…

You’ve started calling everyone “mate”, learned what “arvo” means, and somehow your Irish accent has picked up a few Aussie habits along the way. 🇮🇪🇦🇺

You’ve also accepted that the weather can change five times in one day, found your go-to spot for a decent pint, and explained what “craic” means more times than you can count😂

From finding your feet to finding your people, moving to Australia comes with plenty of little moments that make you realise you’re starting to feel at home.

☘️ It’s Golf Classic day!

Today we’re teeing off at The Lakes Golf Club for one of our favourite events on the Lansdowne Club calendar.

Here’s to a fantastic morning of golf, great company, plenty of Guinness and, of course, lots of Irish craic. Best of luck to all the teams, we can’t wait to see you out on the course! ⛳️

For a lot of our members that question is genuinely difficult, and that’s rather the point.

On Wednesday night we hosted the coaches, the players and AFL leadership at Swans HQ ahead of the first ever Australia v Ireland AFLW international. Laura Kane and Colin O’Riordan in conversation, then a player panel with Paris McCarthy, Eilish O’Dowd, Tanya Kennedy, Zippy Fish and Chloe Molloy, moderated by our board member Shauna Keogh.

Forty six Irish players are on AFLW lists this season, more than any other country outside Australia. Tomorrow, two of those nations meet for the first time.

4.15pm, North Sydney Oval. Sold out, more than 10,000 people, and Foxtel moved the men’s fixture so there is nothing else on.

It isn’t two codes meeting for the first time. It’s a reunion.

On Wednesday night we brought together coaches, players and AFL leadership for AFLW Pat Chats, ahead of Saturday's first-ever Australia v Ireland AFLW international in collaboration with Consulate General of Ireland Sydney Swans AFLW AFL
Sold out. Over 10,000 fans. History in the making!

Ireland's Head Coach Colin O'Riordan summed it up best: "To represent your country, I think, is probably the greatest honour anyone can be given."

Kick off is 4.15pm Saturday at North Sydney Oval, live on Fox Footy, Kayo and Binge. No tickets left, but watch parties are on across Sydney if you want to be part of it.
