From Matthew Shepard (1998) to Jamey Rodemeyer (2011) too many LGBTI Youths have been lost at the hands of bullies. It forever scares them, and leaves them with wounds that never heal. This is the source of this community epidemic, which in some cases tragically results in su***de. More than likely the youths that survive the torture and torment, grow older with insecurities, disorders and mental
issues. We believe prevention is better than the cure. The Community Brave Foundation is now set up a community program and is seeking expressions of interest from the public to help us in developing this into a successful foundation here in Australia. A series of Videos we are creating in association with Rock Your Box.
2. LGBTI Mentoring Program – where people from the public volunteer their time to mentor LGBTI youths online and offline, share their experiences, provide advice, assist with career / study / life choices. Our foundations training is supported by the LGBTI Youth Organisation Twenty10. We will soon be asking for all you folks to volunteer your time and come to our training classes to become Community Brave Mentors!
3. 24 / 7 Social Media Platform which replicates a lifeline service for Youths to speak to volunteers when they are in their darkest hour. This service can best be described as a Lifeline service hosted on the Social Media Platform which will incorporate Twitter. The Community Brave Foundation is seeking people, organisations and community members from the public to participate their time and efforts into this very important cause. We're about to launch our videos to kick start the program, and are finalising a few big names for them. We've got our committee in place and are currently working through our project planning. The Website is due to go live on March 1st! If you would like to be part of this exciting team, and help work towards the cause of eradicating the su***de epidemic amongst LGBTI youths, please ‘like’ this page, and express your interest by letting us know on the wall of this event that you are in. If you can contribute with your time, expertise and knowledge in your specialised field, or have any ideas, please also help us by putting this forward to us. Let’s not lose any more of our youths to this tragedy. Enough is enough. The time for acceptance and tolerance has come, and we need to educate, build, collaborate and work together in stopping any youth from taking their lives. Let’s show them, that it really does get better. One last request we have is that you help spread this message to all of your networks. If you cannot commit the time, we 100% understand. If you can commit to helping spreading what we are trying to achieve, we will be forever grateful. Thanking you all in advance. The Community Brave Foundation
