The Victorian Afghan Associations Network (VAAN) successfully held its Refugee Week Event 2026 on 15 June 2026 at Maiwand Reception in Dandenong. The event brought together community members, special guests, professionals, service providers, community leaders and social advocates to celebrate the resilience, achievements and valuable contributions of refugees to Australian society.
The program was hosted by Ms Farwa Temori and commenced with the Australian National Anthem. Following this, Mr Zabi Mazoori, President of VAAN, welcomed guests and participants. In his opening remarks, Mr Mazoori emphasised the importance of recognising the strength, courage and achievements of refugees. He also acknowledged the significant role of the Afghan community in promoting social cohesion, supporting newly arrived refugees and migrants, and actively contributing to Australia’s multicultural society.
The event included a strong information-sharing component, providing the community with access to important services and practical knowledge. Mr Jaher Bomwick from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) delivered an informative presentation on the 2026 Australian Census. He highlighted the importance of participation by multicultural communities, including the Afghan community, and explained how accurate Census data supports better planning, service delivery and resource allocation across Australia.
Mr Barakat Rezaie, CEO of Rez & Ros Lawyers, presented on consumer rights and key legal issues relevant to the community. Mr David Manne, CEO of Refugee Legal, provided valuable information about legal support services and matters affecting refugees and migrants. The program also featured a detailed presentation by Mr Besmellah Rezaee, CEO of Beena Rezaee Legal & Migration, who spoke about migration programs, humanitarian pathways and available options for individuals and families. His colleague, Mr Qasim Ali, also provided comprehensive information on different visa categories and related migration matters.
A special highlight of the program was the recognition of Ms Zakia River’s achievements. Ms Kobra Ghulami introduced Ms River’s inspiring journey, achievements and contributions. Ms River then shared her personal experiences, challenges and successes with the audience. Her speech was highly inspiring and conveyed a powerful message of resilience, hope, determination and the strength of refugee women.
At the conclusion of the program, Dr Hafiz Asadi, VAAN Hub Manager, invited VAAN representatives and the Mayor of Casey to present a Certificate of Appreciation to Ms Zakia River in recognition of her outstanding achievements and contributions.
VAAN sincerely thanks all guests, speakers, volunteers, partners and community members who contributed to the success of this meaningful event. The VAAN Refugee Week Event 2026 provided an important platform to celebrate refugee resilience and achievements, increase community awareness, strengthen partnerships and highlight the valuable contributions of refugees to the broader Australian community.
برنامه تجلیل از هفته پناهنده، به ابتکار نهاد هماهنگی انجمنهای افغانستانی ویکتوریا (VAAN)، به تاریخ ۱۵ جون ۲۰۲۶ در تالار میوند رسیپشن، شهر داندینانگ، با حضور اعضای جامعه، مهمانان ویژه، کارشناسان، فعالان اجتماعی و نمایندگان نهادهای همکار برگزار گردید.
این برنامه با گردانندگی خانم فروه تموری آغاز شد. پس از پخش سرود ملی استرالیا، آقای ذبیح معذوری، رئیس نهاد هماهنگی انجمنهای افغانستانی ویکتوریا، ضمن خوشآمدگویی به مهمانان و اشتراککنندگان، بر اهمیت تجلیل از دستاوردها، مقاومت، تلاشها و سهم ارزشمند پناهندگان در رشد و تقویت جامعه استرالیا تأکید نمود. ایشان همچنان نقش جامعه افغانستانی در همبستگی اجتماعی، حمایت از تازهواردان و مشارکت فعال در جامعه چندفرهنگی استرالیا را مهم و قابل قدر دانست.
در بخش آگاهیدهی برنامه، آقای جاهر بومویک از اداره آمار استرالیا (ABS)، معلومات مفید و کاربردی را در مورد سرشماری ملی استرالیا ۲۰۲۶ ارائه نمود. وی بر اهمیت مشارکت جوامع چندفرهنگی، بهویژه جامعه افغانستانی، در سرشماری ملی تأکید کرده و توضیح داد که اشتراک در این روند میتواند در برنامهریزی بهتر خدمات، منابع و حمایتهای اجتماعی نقش مهمی داشته باشد.
در ادامه، آقای برکت رضایی، رئیس دفتر Rez & Ros Lawyers، پیرامون حقوق مصرفکنندگان و موضوعات حقوقی مورد نیاز جامعه صحبت نمود. همچنان آقای دیوید من، رئیس دفتر Refugee Legal، معلومات ارزشمندی را در مورد حمایتهای حقوقی، مسائل مرتبط با پناهندگان و چالشهای مهاجرتی ارائه کرد. پس از آن، آقای بسمالله رضایی، رئیس دفتر Beena Rezaee Legal & Migration، درباره برنامههای مهاجرتی، مسیرهای بشردوستانه و گزینههای موجود برای خانوادهها و افراد نیازمند توضیحات مفصلی ارائه نمود. همچنان همکار ایشان، آقای قاسم علی، در مورد انواع مختلف ویزاها و موضوعات مرتبط با مهاجرت صحبتهای جامع و مفیدی ارائه کرد.
در بخش ویژه برنامه، خانم کبرا غلامی به معرفی دستاوردها، تلاشها و فعالیتهای ارزشمند خانم زکیه ریور پرداخت. سپس خانم زکیه ریور، بهعنوان مهمان ویژه برنامه، تجربیات، چالشها و موفقیتهای خود را با حاضرین شریک ساخت. سخنان ایشان الهامبخش بوده و پیام روشنی از استقامت، امید، تلاش و توانمندی زنان پناهنده را به اشتراککنندگان منتقل نمود.
در پایان برنامه، داکتر حفیظ اسدی، مدیر دفتر نهاد هماهنگی انجمنهای افغانستانی ویکتوریا، از اعضای نهاد و شهردار کیسی دعوت نمود تا سرتفیکت افتخار را به پاس قدردانی از دستاوردها و تلاشهای ارزشمند خانم زکیه ریور به ایشان اهدا نمایند.
نهاد هماهنگی انجمنهای افغانستانی ویکتوریا (VAAN) از حضور گرم مهمانان، سخنرانان، داوطلبان، همکاران و تمامی اشتراککنندگان که در موفقیت این برنامه سهم ارزشمند داشتند، صمیمانه سپاسگزاری مینماید. این برنامه فرصتی مهم برای تجلیل از مقاومت و دستاوردهای پناهندگان، افزایش آگاهی جامعه و تقویت همکاری میان نهادها، رهبران اجتماعی و اعضای جامعه افغانستانی در ویکتوریا بود.
