Marine Stewardship Council in Australia & NZ

Marine Stewardship Council in Australia & NZ Love the ocean? So do we. Look for the MSC Blue Tick to choose sustainably 🐟 Every bit counts. Our oceans feed over 3 billion people.

They contain 80 per cent of our world’s biodiversity. They’re the lungs of our planet, providing us all with the oxygen we need. For us to live, we need them to thrive. Together, we're on a mission to end overfishing and help preserve our seas for future generations. Look for the blue fish tick and choose sustainable seafood when you're shopping. Because the little choices we make have a big ripple effect.

Australians eat around 45,000 tonnes of canned tuna every year — about the same weight as the Sydney Harbour Bridge!

But behind every can, jar and pouch is a bigger story.

We spoke to the women behind two independent family-owned brands who are shaping a new generation of tuna fisheries in Australia, sharing how they got started, what drives them, and why they believe the future of seafood is becoming more conscious, connected and innovative.

In a category long dominated by the big names, these passionate female leads are bringing fresh energy to one of the country’s most-loved pantry staples.

The Sustainable Seafood Awards Australia celebrated this year's Super Seafood heroes, those leading the way and setting the benchmark for sustainable and responsible seafood 🌊

From farmers to fisheries, retailers to individuals, we all have a role to play, and these awards celebrate the people behind the scenes who are demonstrating change and improving Australia’s seafood industry.

An initiative of ASC Australia & New Zealand and Marine Stewardship Council in Australia & NZ, these awards bring together two global not for profit organisations working together to set standards across farmed and wild seafood.

Here’s a look back at some of the moments, the movement, and the people making waves and raising the bar for our oceans and our planet💙

Congratulations to this year’s award winners!
