VALE Manic

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the sudden passing of retired Combat Assault Dog, Manic, on Saturday, 16th May 2026.

To describe Manic as a Military Working Dog feels like an understatement; he possessed a presence that was deeply special, a soulfulness that was impossible to put into words unless you had the privilege of standing beside him. He touched the lives of everyone he met instantly.

Today, a guard of honour fit for a true veteran was held to guide Manic on his final journey. We were proud to have the Cronulla RSL Sub Branch represented by President Cory Rinaldi, Honorary Secretary Paul Zaat, and Office Manager Kristy Nichols. They were joined by acting CEO Brad Bishop, the Board of Directors and the Management staff.

The service was made even more poignant by the presence of the Police Dog Squad, the dedicated staff of VSOS, and the close family and friends of the Price family. Most movingly, Manic’s best mate, Dragon, was there to stand by his side one last time.

To Jason and the Price family, words cannot express the depth of our sorrow. Though Manic may not have been an official member of our Sub Branch, in our eyes and in our hearts, he always was.

Rest easy, Manic. Your watch is over, and your legacy of service and loyalty will live on in all of us.

Farewell, brave boy. Lest we Forget.

The RSL extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Warrant Officer Class Two Lachlan Muddle, a Special Air Service Regiment soldier fatally injured during a parachuting training course at Jervis Bay Airfield on 11 May 2026.

RSL National President, Peter Tinley AM, said: "Every Australian who puts on a uniform accepts a level of sacrifice that most of us will never be asked to make. WO2 Muddle was training to serve and protect our country, and that commitment deserves our deepest respect and gratitude. Our hearts are with his family, friends, and fellow soldiers at this incredibly difficult time."

One other soldier was injured in the incident but did not require hospitalisation. We wish them a full and swift recovery.

The RSL stands ready to support veterans and their families through these difficult times.

If anyone in the veteran community needs support, please reach out to Open Arms - Veterans & Families Counselling on 1800 011 046 or Lifeline crisis support on 13 11 14.

We are incredibly proud to share the story of Jesse and Flynn, two young legends who spent their ANZAC Day period baking and selling ANZAC cookies to support our veterans.

With the guidance of Sub Branch member James Moody and his wife Bec, Jesse and Flynn rolled up their sleeves and got to work in the kitchen. Their hard work truly paid off, raising an incredible **$1,090.00**!

Our President Cory Rinaldi and Honorary Secretary Paul Zaat were so impressed they paid a personal visit to the boys to place an order and extend a huge thank you on behalf of the Sub Branch.

Every cent of the $1,090.00 has been donated to our Sub Branch to support our local veteran community. Thank you, Jesse, Flynn, James, and Bec, for your wonderful contribution and for keeping the ANZAC spirit alive in the next generation. 🇦🇺🌹
