Childers crews, alongside many others, have been on the ground assisting Bundaberg residents as they began the clean-up after the Burnett River peaked at 7.4m on Wednesday morning.

The support from Rural Fire Service crews across the region was incredible. Crews from Avondale, Bingera Weir, Birthamba, Boolboonda, Branyan, Bungadoo, Buxton, Calavos, Childers, Goodwood, Gregory River, Moore Park, Mt Perry, South Kolan, Tirroan and Woodgate were joined by crews travelling from South Nanango, Cedar Pocket Greens Creek and River Heads–Kingfisher to lend a hand.

While it was heartbreaking to see the impacts of the flooding first-hand, crews didn’t hesitate to roll up their sleeves and get stuck into the clean-up.

Our thoughts are with all Bundaberg residents affected by the floods. Wishing everyone the very best as recovery efforts continue.

Well thats the end of the Santa Run for 2025.

Our volunteers have done another amazing job, giving up time with their families to once again put this event on for the community, and we hope the community enjoyed it as we did.

We cant get everywhere, as much as we'd like to, it's just impossible.

Some stats:
- 6.5 hours on the go with two trucks.
- 161km travelled cumulatively with 2 trucks. This is the equivalent of travelling from our station to Miriam Vale.
- Over 800 water balloons filled, split between both trucks.
- 2 hours of preparation this morning.
- Quite a few water fights.
- Over 100 manpower hours, both in preparation for and ex*****on of the event.

If you have any photos, please feel free to add them to this post, send them to us in private message or tag us in the post Childers Rural Fire Brigade. We would love to see them.

Merry Christmas to the Childers and broader community from all of the members of the Childers Rural Fire Brigade

Trucks are still on the run.

One truck is currently in Childers, on the Eastern Side of the Highway.

One truck is just finishing in Apple Tree Creek and will be heading towards Childers, going to the Western Side of the Highway.

Keep listening for the sirens when we are close by

We're about to leave on our Annual Santa Run.

One truck will be heading to Childers shining, Oakview Estate, Mahogany Park, Abington Estate, Horton and back to Childers.

One truck will be heading to towards Apple Tree Creek (eastern side of Highway), to Cordalba, then back to ATC (western side of Highway), then back to Childers.

Listen out for the sirens when we're near. We will do our best with updates, however may be unable to update constantly.

Please remember all guidelines as outlined in our previous post.

Here comes Santa Claus!

πŸš¨πŸš’πŸŽ…πŸš¨πŸš¨πŸŽ…πŸš’πŸš¨
Well Childers and surrounds, tomorrow is Christmas Eve, and more importantly, our Annual Christmas Eve Santa Run.

This year we are planning on starting the run around 10-10.30am and will have our two trucks on the run as we usually do.

We cannot give a definitive answer on where we will be at what time, as there are a multitude of factors that affect the timings.

And as much as we would like to, we can't get to every street and road across the region. This is just physically impossible.

Below are some things to keep in mind for Christmas Eve, to ensure the safety of everyone involved:

1. Please stay on the footpath and out of the path of travel of our vehicles. This makes it safer for families and our volunteers.
2. Only use water balloons (not regular party balloons) and only fill with water. If there is anything other than water thrown in water bombs, we will drive away.
3. Keep a listen out for the sirens. We are unable to post or answer messages as to where we are on the day. Listening out for the sirens is the best way to know we are close.
4. We remain operational and are on call during the Santa Run. So, if we do receive an Emergency callout, we have to stop the run. Whilst we haven't had this happen for some time, it always remains possible.

We will let you know when we are beginning tomorrow. Listen out for the sirens and look out for Santa on the Fire Truck. πŸš¨πŸš’πŸŽ…πŸš¨πŸš¨πŸŽ…πŸš’πŸš¨

**this post is no longer current**

Please be aware that the Local Fire Ban is still in place for our area.

The Local Fire Ban is currently being reviewed by the Queensland Fire Department office, and an outcome will be posted when we have been made aware. Our brigade (and its volunteers) does not make these decisions.

It is still an offence to light a fire during a Local Fire Ban (even after rain). Fines of up to $8345 or imprisonment of up to 6 months can still occur until the Ban is lifted.
