Come along & enjoy our iconic, heritage-listed building in the very heart of historic Childers. Visitors are welcome any time we're open to view our collection of War/Service memorabilia. More than most other Australian country towns of a similar size, Childers has been badly affected by war. On a per capita basis, the Isis District sent more men to WWI than any other in Australia. We're rightly p
roud of our District's service to our country. We have a range of tasteful commemorative merchandise available for sale, with all profits benefiting the RSL & other worthy charities like Soldier On and Legacy. Our veranda is licensed, so you can sit out there & enjoy our beautiful sunny weather while having a cold (or hot) drink and a snack. There's a large public car park in Crescent St, directly behind the RSL & Hotel Childers, which is also suitable for caravans & trucks. If you've got kids, there's a very new playground at the back of Millennial Park (a short distance from the public carpark at the rear of the RSL) to entertain them, as well as another playground on the other side of Crescent Street. We also have raffles & members' draws from 5.30 pm on Fridays. There's entertainment on a regular basis, with events advertised here. Social membership will only set you back $5.50 each year. The RSL was founded in 1916 by wounded soldiers returning from the trenches of WWI, who found there was limited Government support available to them. The RSL was founded on the values of:
* recognition;
* service;
* loyalty;
* quality; &
* mateship. Our services include:
* Free entitlement advice & advocacy services;
* Low cost & emergency accommodation;
* Home & hospital visits;
* Family & bereavement assistance;
* Veterans’ Affairs advocacy;
* Emergency funding; &
* ‘Poppy’ Funeral services – no digger dies alone. Come along & support your local RSL. Your support allows us to support men & women who've served their country, to support others in the community & to maintain our iconic, heritage-listed building.
