Hornsby Gang Show is back for 2026!

HORNSBY GANG SHOW
Performing arts have been a part of Scouting since its earliest days, and Hornsby Gang Show has been the Sydney North Region's major annual performing arts activity, entertaining the northside public for over 50 years.

Music, song, dance, comedy... we showcase the amazing talents of Scouts and Guides aged 11-25 from across our Region in a colorful and fast-moving variety production.

Staged at Abbotsleigh School, Wahroonga on July 3-11, with matinee and evening shows, it makes ideal family entertainment for the school holidays.

SCOUTHIKE 2026
ScoutHike is an annual major event for the Scout section (ages 11-14), run by Sydney North Region. Last weekend around 800 Scouts and 570 supporters descended on Belanglo State Forest, just south of Sydney.

The Scouts hiked the forest in small teams, undertaking many of the 30 activity bases designed to test initiative, teamwork, and leadership. It was incredible to see the fun the youth were having and important life skills they were developing!

ANZAC DAY 2026
Scout Groups and Units from across the Sydney North Region actively supported local Anzac Day services and marches this morning... lest we forget.

DRAGON SKIN 2026
Dragon Skin is a very popular annual event for Venturer Scouts (ages 14-17), held over the Easter long weekend. Easter has characteristically been wet and cold, but this year's Dragon Skin saw little rain and some brilliant sunny days!
Close to 800 Venturer Scouts in around 150 teams from across NSW and beyond hiked through Belanglo State Forest just south of Sydney, navigating to a range of activity challenges to earn points. The activity bases test initiative, teamwork, creativity, and other skills, and are designed and staffed by Rover Scouts (aged 18-25), who also provide overnight campsites, working together with Leaders and other supporters.
Venturer Units from Sydney North Region featured strongly, with 43 teams taking part, and seven of them among the top 20 place-getters.

Our Region's annual Sirius Cup Regatta was held on March 20-22, and saw around 800 participants from over 40 Scout Groups take part, with most camping at Balmoral Oval. It was an activity-packed weekend with canoe, sailing, and rowing races for all agegroups.

After a three year wait (due to COVID) and a record-breaking storm in the lead-up period, Scouts finally gathered at Balmoral Oval over the weekend of March 18-20.

Over March 7-8, the Sydney North Region Rockcraft Team ran a Canyoning Adventure Weekend, based at Mt Wilson in the Blue Mountains.

Canyoning involves descending through narrow gorges, abseiling waterfalls, and swimming through deep and cold pools.

The weekend was very popular with Venturer Scouts (ages 15-17), Rovers (ages 18-25), and Leaders from across Sydney North, with around 45 taking part, ably led by a team of ten experienced qualified guides.

Eleven different canyons were undertaken over the two days, in groups of up to six people.

Sydney North runs several Canyoning Adventure Weekends during the warmer months, as well as guide and specialised technique training.
