On this World Scout Day, Sydney North Rovers would like to acknowledge and congratulate Aaron Kew from Forest Rovers for being awarded the Stan Bales Rover Service Award!

In NSW, this award is named in honour of Stan Bales, who served as the NSW Rover Commissioner for 23 years from 1955 to 1978 and is presented to a Rover Scout who has given a minimum of five years of sustained and outstanding service to the Rover Section.

Since he was first invested as a Rover Scout at Forest Rovers in 2019 Aaron has consistently demonstrated an exceptional level of commitment, reliability and passion for the Rover Section. During this time he has held various roles at Unit Level including Unit Leader, and on the Region Rover Council, including State Rover Council Delegate and Region Rover Council Chair. During his time in these roles he consistently went above and beyond the role descriptions with the goal of making Rover Scouts a better place in Sydney North and so is very deserving of this award.

Please join Sydney North Rovers in congratulating Aaron Kew on being awarded the Stan Bales Rover Service Award!

Last weekend, Sydney North Rovers attended the Sydney North Annual Report Presentation highlighting all of the amazing Scouting that has occurred in our Region over the last 12 months.

In addition to helping out with several aspects of the presentation, including as flag bearers, Tamara Dudfield from 2nd Normanhurst Rovers gave a fantastic presentation on her hike to Everest Base Camp last year which was made possible thanks to the Dick and Pip Smith Leadership Through Adventure Fund.

Sydney North Rovers are always proud to help support all sections of the scouting movement and we look forward to sharing more of what we get up to over the next year!

NEW ASSISTANT REGIONAL COMISSIONER FOR SYDNEY NORTH ROVERS

We are pleased to announce that Pete Dean is joining us as our new Assistant Regional Commissioner Rovers. Pete has been a part of Scouts since joining as a Cub Scout. During his time in Rover Scouts, he was one of the founding members of the newly reformed Kananga Rovers and held several roles including Kananga Rover Crew Leader, Sydney North Region Rover Council Treasurer and Training Coordinator. Pete was also the first person in the newly reformed Kananga Rovers to receive his Baden Powell Scout Award and has received a Rover Recognition Award for his Service to the Rover Section.

Since turning 26, Pete has been a Venturer leader at 1st Bayview Scout Group and has remained an avid supporter of the Rover Section in this role, including encouraging his Venturer Scouts to continue their Scouting journey through Rovers.

We welcome Pete and wish him luck in the role as he works with our Regional Commissioner Rovers, Elyse Versace, to support the Rovers of Sydney North.

Over the last weekend of May, Sydney North Rovers headed back to Belanglo State Forest for another crazy event. This time was Scout Hike and our Rovers from Sleep Point 6 ran 4 bases, including the infamous 67, which took away the top prize for the weekend. We had fun and sure hope you did too! See you next year.
