On Saturday 21 June, our Vice Presidents, Paul Harris-Walker and Rees John, were honoured to attend the 75th Anniversary Commemoration of No. 322 (City of Ryde) Squadron.

As part of the celebrations, Australian Air Force Cadets from No. 322 Squadron assembled at North Ryde Oval for their Freedom of Entry Parade, a significant and proud tradition that reflects the strong relationship between the Squadron and the community it serves.

The milestone provided an opportunity to reflect on the proud history, service and achievements of the Squadron over the past 75 years, while recognising the dedication and commitment of generations of cadets and staff.

Commemorative events such as these help ensure the stories, values and legacy of service continue to be remembered and shared with future generations.

Thank you to Paul for capturing and sharing these photos from the day.

Yesterday, two of our Castle Hill & District RSL sub-Branch members had the honour of attending a special afternoon tea celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the Families of Veterans Guild - owned by Australian War Widows NSW Ltd

The afternoon was made even more memorable with an address by Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales. We were also fortunate to have a lovely personal conversation with the Governor when she unexpectedly joined us for a chat.

Our members, Fran Harris-Walker and Katherine Kirk, thoroughly enjoyed the occasion, reflecting on the important support and connection the Families of Veterans Guild has provided to veteran families over the past 80 years.

Held in one of Sydney’s most beautiful settings, it was a wonderful afternoon of recognition, conversation and remembrance.

Thank you to the Families of Veterans Guild for the invitation and congratulations on this incredible milestone.

Last Friday, our President Cheryl Hill and members of the Castle Hill & District RSL Sub-Branch travelled to North Head to attend the annual Defence of Sydney Commemorative Service, marking the 84th anniversary of the night Japanese mini-subs entered Sydney Harbour on 31 May 1942 - a significant moment in Australia’s wartime history.

The service was highlighted by an inspiring address from Rear Admiral Chris Smith AM, CSM, RAN, Commander Australian Fleet, reflecting on the service and sacrifice of those who defended our nation.

We were honoured to be part of this important commemoration and to pay our respects to all those who served during this pivotal moment in Australia’s history.

Thank you to Paul Harris-Walker for capturing these photos from the day.

Lest We Forget.

🎳 A Fantastic Night at Family Bowls! 🎳

On Saturday evening, Castle Hill & District RSL sub-Branch was excited to host a Family Bowling Night in partnership with Invictus Australia as part of our Sport and Recreation Programme.

Making use of the fantastic new covered bowling green at Castle Hill Bowling Club, we enjoyed a wonderful turnout of participants of all ages. It was very much a family event, bringing together members, families, veterans and friends for an evening of fun, laughter and friendly competition.

With food provided and plenty of great conversations shared throughout the night, it was a fantastic opportunity to connect with our community in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a success. Thanks you to our Sport & Recreation Coordinator Chris Kirk for organising the event. We would also like to thank Amanda from Invictus Australia for helping to spread the word and support the event.

We look forward to seeing everyone again at future Sport and Recreation Programme activities.
