ARC Disability

ARC Disability As the largest independent NDIS service provider in Cairns, ARC Disability has been providing 'more than just support' since 1976.

Established in 1976 by a group of parents with a vision for their children, we pride ourselves on being person focused, friendly, flexible and fun! Our Vision is that people who have a disability are empowered to reach their full potential, dreams and aspirations, enabling them to enjoy a fulfilling life of their choosing as valued members of the community. We work collaboratively with our service

users, their support networks and the community to facilitate a range of options and opportunities which promote active participation for all.

Have Your Say on Accessibility and Inclusion in Cairns πŸ“£

Cairns Regional Council is inviting people with disability, families, carers, support networks, and community members to share their experiences and ideas through the new Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) survey.

Your feedback will help identify barriers people may face when accessing Council-managed places, spaces, services, events, and activities, and will help shape future priorities for a more accessible and inclusive Cairns.

πŸ—“οΈ The survey is open until 20 September 2026.

πŸ“§ If you have any questions or would like more information about the survey or how the information will be used, contact [email protected].

Meet Peggy! πŸ™‹

We're excited to welcome 'Peggy' - our new training mannequin designed specifically for PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) and gastrostomy tube training.

Peggy provides a hands-on learning experience, helping our team visualise correct PEG tube positioning and safely practice the techniques involved in PEG care and management.

By incorporating Peggy into staff training, we're investing in hands-on learning and helping to build confidence and competency in PEG management for our staff - which means better outcomes for the people we support and the disability sector workforce. πŸ™Œ

Last month, the ARC Programs crew had the opportunity to cheer on Norman Eigl as he achieved 42km of burpee jumps under 197 hours - a new world record! πŸ†

After eight gruelling days, Norman crossed the finish line at the 180 hour mark successfully completing 42.2km - the equivalent of 31,297 burpees!

Norman wasn't just taking on this challenge to push his own limits, he was doing it to raise awareness for men's mental health and to fundraise for Rosies - a local non-profit organisation that supports people experiencing homelessness and those doing it tough. 🧑

Congratulations to Norman on this remarkable achievement. πŸ‘ It was amazing to celebrate it with you on the day!

Cheers to 50 years! πŸ₯‚

What an incredible evening we shared on Saturday at our 50th Anniversary Golden Gala Ball. ✨

It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate ARC's history and hear from our special guest speakers including parent carer Sue Forbes and her son Adrian Forbes, who began their journey with ARC over 20 years ago. We were honoured to hear from Anne Hoyal, one of the founding members of ARC, as well as ARC's Board Chair Lorraine Carroll, CEO Benjamin Keast and Deputy CEO Natasha Rivett.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate five decades of ARC - participants, families, staff, partners, supporters and friends.

We're so proud of how far ARC has come, and we're looking forward to continuing to provide 'more than just support' into the future. πŸ’™
