🐾 TICK SEASON IS HERE – PROTECT YOUR PET!
🐾
Paralysis ticks can be deadly …

Their toxin attacks the nervous system and can cause weakness, breathing difficulties and, without urgent treatment, death. And the cost to treat a pet affected by tick paralysis can cost upwards if $1600. Sadly this is the reason many tick paralysis pets are euthanised as the owners cant afford treatment. Paralysis affects the central nervous system and once it reaches the respiratory system the animal can’t breath and death occurs.

🙌 The good news is tick paralysis can often be prevented with regular tick prevention and daily tick checks.

💙 If your pet is registered with Pets in the Park, please visit your local community clinic to collect their FREE flea and tick preventative.
Prevention saves lives. 🐶🐱

Be a responsible pet owner …

Check them. Protect them. Keep them safe.

Tick paralysis can be deadly!

I received an urgent message from a pet parent:

“… I’ve pulled a big swollen tick off my dog and now he is walking wobbly. The vet clinic i called said it will cost $1600 to help him. I cant afford that …”

Pets in the Park clinics provide free tick and flea preventative medications to pets of homeless and vulnerable people. (Criteria applies)

Contact your local Pets in the Park clinic to arrange collection of tick preventative medication for your pet.

If your pet has had a tick removed and is showing any of the following signs contact the RSPCA or Animal Welfare League community clinic ASAP :

This week marks Homelessness Week 2026, a time to raise awareness of homelessness in Australia and the collective action needed to create lasting change.

At Pets In The Park, we see every day how important the bond between people and their companion animals can be.

Through our volunteer veterinary clinics, we're proud to provide free veterinary care that helps keep pets healthy and supports the people who love them.

It's practical support, delivered with compassion, and it's only possible because of our incredible volunteers, referral partners, supporters and donors.

Thank you for helping us make a difference...because caring for pets is also caring for people.

We're incredibly honoured to have been selected as the 2026 charity partner for the iconic Commentators Club Grand Final Luncheon.

What began in 1997 as a gathering of just 30 friends with a shared passion for Australian Rules football has grown into one of Melbourne's most anticipated AFL Grand Final week events. More importantly, it has become a remarkable force for good.

For almost three decades, the Commentators Club has chosen to direct the proceeds from its annual luncheon to grassroots charities making a real difference in the community, with over $400,000 distributed so far.

This year, we're humbled that Pets In The Park has been chosen as the beneficiary.

Funds raised will directly support our Melbourne clinics in St Kilda, Melbourne and Frankston, helping us provide free veterinary care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness.

A heartfelt thank you to Neville "Nifty" James, Geoff "Joffa" Donohue, the Commentators Club committee, and every guest attending and sponsor supporting this year's luncheon. Your generosity will have a lasting impact on the people and pets we support.

The luncheon is already sold out which is testament to the passion of everyone involved but you can join the wait list here: https://www.commentators.com.au/book

We feel incredibly privileged to be part of this year's event and can't wait to be part of what promises to be a fantastic afternoon. You can learn more about this incredible annual event here: https://www.commentators.com.au/

For many Australians experiencing homelessness, a pet is their constant companion, source of comfort, and reason to keep going. Yet when money is tight, veterinary care is often out of reach.

That's why Pets In The Park provides free veterinary care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness via monthly pop-up clinics around the country.

This End of Financial Year, our friends at Scratch Pet Food are helping us make an even bigger impact. Through our Scratch for the Match campaign, every donation received before June 30 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $40,000.

That means:
🐾 $50 becomes $100
🐾 $100 becomes $200
🐾 $500 becomes $1,000

Double the gift. Double the impact.
