🌟Weekly Round Up–Term 2 WK 9 2026🌟

🦘Joeys had a busy night of learning - they covered introduction to scouting and section, emergency evacuation practise, Stop Drop and Roll, and making their own First aid kits. The night ended with Knot tying and making clothes lines.

👏 This week during cubs and scouts, we celebrated Lily's achievment of the Grey Wolf Award. Lily chose to celebrate with a movie night, watching Shrek with cake and popcorn 🍿

🌟Weekly Round Up–Term 2 WK 8 2026🌟

🦘Joeys made their own creations from clay this week. Under the guidance of guest art teacher Salty, the Joeys also learnt how to add finer details like eyes, limbs/fins, skin markings to give their creation its own personality!

🧭 Our cubs and scouts participated in
Flamboree this week, and enjoyed some campfire cooking. S’mores were on the menu again and enjoyed by all. They tried making a fruit crumble also, but unfortunately it didn’t go to plan 😬

💟 It was however a great learning opportunity for the youth, and during the end of night review we were able to discuss improvements and changes for next time.

🌟Weekly Round Up – Term 2 WK 7 2026 🌟

🔥 This week at Joeys, there were SIA presentations while the campfire was being prepared. The Joeys then moved outside to participate in the annual Flamboree, cooking marshmallows over the fire and enjoying yummy s’mores together.

🧭 Our cubs participated in a navigation game (created by Lilly), while scouts packed for their upcoming camp and learnt how to care for their cast iron pans.
🏊 Next, both sections joined together to review compasses, practice rescue throws and review the “plan” section for OAS aquatics 3.

⛺️ On the weekend, Scouts and 10 year old Cubs joined Mudgeeraba Scout Group and participated in a Standing Camp at Rob’s Kitchen, Karingal. There was lots of learning, new friendships and fabulous cooking!

🌟 Term 2 - Week 6 2026 🌟

🐢Maggie Muurmans, an award winning turtle conservationist visited Burleigh Heads Scout Group for World Turtle Day. Both the Joey and Cub section joined together and learned all about turtles, including how to identify different types and tips for measuring turtles.

🌊We also learned about the non-profit organisation started by Maggie called Ocean Connect. They provide educational programs, citizen science activities and community events that connect the community to the marine environment.

🪢 Scouts and Cub PLs/APLs met this week to practice knots and lashings. They assembled camp gadgets, had an impromptu limbo competition, created a gateway with a rope curtain and played a blindfolded communication game.

⛺On the weekend, Cubs and Scouts had a two night camp at our den Burleigh Heads Scout Group. Some of the activities included our youth erecting and packing away their tents, helping prepare and cook meals, practising and learning OAS skills, exploring the Burleigh rock pools and surrounds, and completing a 10km walk through the Burleigh headland and out to Tallebudgera beach! We were treated to some quality entertainment around the campfire too, with cubs performing skits and everyone sharing some jokes 😂

🦘 Our Joey section participated in the Joey Scout Step Out Challenge on Sunday. They were given a set of instructions and a map, then had to find their way around the Gold Coast. There was a lot of walking, tapping on and off trams, exploring and discovering all sorts of interesting things and places all around the Gold Coast including GCUH, Southport and Macintosh Island! 🏝️

🌟 Weekly Round Up – Term 2 WK 5 2026 🌟

Our Joeys joined other groups from the Scouts Gold Coast - Lamington District for World Bee Day at Ashmore Scout Group 🐝 A huge thank you to DC Baloo for organising another fantastic night — the Joeys had an absolute blast!

The Cubs and Scouts put their teamwork and communication skills to the test with a LEGO challenge, trying to create matching builds using only verbal instructions 🗣️🧱 We also raced against the clock in a tower-building relay and designed cars with changing rules before sending them down the ramp to see whose travelled the furthest 🚗💨

What adventures will we get up to this week?

That’s it from AJSL Roo 🦘 I’ve really enjoyed doing the weekly posts, but it’s time to pass the role on to someone else.

From next week, ACSL Bandicoot will be taking over the posts 👀
A huge thank you to her for stepping up and taking this on — I know she’ll do an amazing job!

Joeys had Tamika from queensland ambulance visit 🚑
They got to look inside a vehicle, lie on the bed and finished the night with a discussion. Thank you very much for comming to visit us.

Cubs celebrated all their furry friends at "Bring a pet" night. So much fluffy cuteness 🐶🐱🐹

Scouts went to Zone bowling to have some fun away from the den. They also took the opportunity to discuss program ideas for Term 3 and 4 . They also had a mini birthday celebration for Lilly who just linked from cubs.

On the weekend members went Tree planting at Hinterland Regional Park. Wet and muddy, but so much fun.
