🌿 Dreamtime Artistry with Aunty Erica 🌿
This week, our Dolphins and Turtles groups enjoyed a special visit from Aunty Erica from Dreamtime Artistry.
Aunty Erica shared stories about her Aboriginal culture and connection to Country within the Yugambeh language region. The children learnt about totem animals, their stories and how these are passed down through generations.
We explored traditional hunting and gathering practices and learnt how Aboriginal peoples used natural materials, including how an emu egg could be used as a water bottle.
The children enjoyed hands-on experiences exploring animal skins and traditional tools, listening to the sounds of the didgeridoo and joining in with songs and dance. 🪃
We followed this wonderful experience with some storytelling of our own, using Aboriginal symbols to share stories.
It was a beautiful opportunity for the children to learn more about Aboriginal culture, traditions and connection to Country through storytelling, music and hands-on learning.
Thank you, Aunty Erica, for sharing your culture, stories and knowledge with us! 🤎
