What a great week for Lions Eye Health Program in the Bundaberg and Childers region. Last week members Lions Club of Bargara Inc. and Bundaberg North Lions club came together and travelled to both Cordalba State School and Burnett Heads State School to conduct Eye Health Screenings. In total 74 children and several Teachers and adults were Eye tested with 16 referrals to Eye Health professionals. If Children can see Better, then they learn Better. We would like to let you know what our Lions Club has been doing of late in assisting the Homeless in our local Community. Late last year we met Matt from Lets Hope Arise Inc. who told us he was providing meals four nights per week for up to several hundred people on some nights. Following this, Lions Fiona and Ann have been instrumental in arranging a Donation of $1,000 towards Matt's food costs and the provision of 52 Blankets that he will hand to those in need. Lion Margaret will also be putting together 50 Dignity Bags for the cause. A big thank you to New Image Laundry for the overall provision of 134 blankets, which will also see distribution to the Anglican Church, Hinkler Lions of Bundaberg and the RSPCA. A cool start to the day and a magificent sunrise to greet us for our May ALDI Bbq..the brisk weather has gradually brought the crowds who were eager to consume one or two of the best sausage snag sandwiches in Bundy..Come on down we still have a couple left. Lions Club District 201 Q4

Earlier this month several members of our club traveled over to the Cordalba State School to make a donation to the Therapy Dog program that has just started at the School. The program is led by Teachers Aide Meg Williams and her dog Tilda. We met principal Matt Parsons and School Support teacher Tracey Hitchcock who confirmed the Therapy dog Tilda will spend one day a week in the classrooms at the School helping to support and calm children who have various issues. Our donation will fund the equivalent of one terms cost. We also thank the school who will also participate in the Lions Eye Health Program in mid June. We also thank Bundaberg Today for the use of photographs provided.

Over the past 24 hours our club members and Next Gen prospective members have assisted with the meal prepararion for those attending the welcome dinner last night for the 2026 Lions Youth of the Year State Final, as well as attending todays Luncheon and Public Speaking event at the ATW complex. Former Bundaberg North State High School LYOY competitors Tyler Poole was MCee for today's event with Violet Ballantyne being part of the judging panel...A big congratulations to Amelie Cockrem representing Malanda Lions Club for being the overall winner of the YOTY State Final and Sasha Bilwani gor taking out the Public Speaking award.
