Spotted! 👀 Some familiar Brukunga faces!
We've been lucky enough to receive three Mount Barker District Council community grants over the last few years, where they've helped us:
🎉 Celebrate our town's 70th birthday
🌳 Move forward with the Watts Reserve project
🔥 Bring bushfire-affected land around our Brukunga Country Fire Service brigade building back to life with the CFS Firewise Garden, which also showcases how to garden fire-wise at home.

A big thank you to Mount Barker District Council, and to all our wonderful volunteers who make it happen! 🧡

Tegan's Brukunga – Where the Hell’s That? shirt took out the Best T-Shirt Award at a recent CFS Aviation pre-fire season training session at the Port Pirie Airbase. 🏆

We’re not sure what the judging criteria were, but we’re pretty confident Brukunga pride played a major role! 😎

Thanks for representing Brukunga so well Tegan and good luck to everyone heading into the upcoming fire season. 🚒❤️

Well, we caved 🍪
After much peer pressure, we finally tried the famous sourdough cookies from Bremer Valley Farms, conveniently located alongside the gorgeous flowers & plants at the Big Sky Flower Farm roadside stall (cnr Harrogate & Military Rd, Brukunga).
The verdict? Did NOT disappoint. 😋

Two great local businesses doing their thing together!
This is exactly the kind of small-town goodness that makes Brukunga, Brukunga.
Get in before we go back for more.
We believe they restock every Friday/weekend 🧡

Meet your 2026–2027 BCA Bunch! 🧡

What a turnout at last week's AGM, thank you to everyone who came along, voted, and got behind their community.

We were lucky enough to have so many people put their hand up for the committee.
For a small town, that says everything.

📣 Calling our young people!

Mount Barker District Council is opening nominations for its very first Youth Advisory Committee — and we'd love to see Brukunga (or surrounds) represented.

If you're aged 12–25 and you live, work, study or just feel connected to our district, this is your chance to have a real say in the decisions that shape our community. No previous leadership, committee or volunteering experience needed — just good ideas and a willingness to speak up for the people around you.

Brukunga is a small community with a big heart, and our younger residents see things the rest of us miss. If that sounds like you — or someone you know — please consider putting your hand up.

Nominations close Monday 28 September. Details in the Council's post below. 👇

A VOICE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AT A LOCAL LEVEL 🗣️

Nominations are now open for Mount Barker District Council’s new Youth Advisory Committee.

Young people aged 12 to 25 who live, work, study or have a strong connection with Mount Barker district are eligible for the committee.

If you know a young person who can be a voice for their community, has great ideas and can make recommendations to Council, please encourage them to apply and make history.

Nominations close Monday 28 September and no previous leadership, committee or volunteering experience is required.

The Mount Barker Youth Advisory Committee will meet for the first time on Thursday 8 October.

Meet Katrina: Greenie + Native Plant Whisperer 🧡
Comes with: a native seedling, a trusty trowel, well-worn gloves, a watering can, a bag of soil, and the practical field gear she's most comfortable in when she's out there getting her hands dirty.

Katrina is our resident environmental brain. With over 20 years working in land management across the Adelaide Hills, she's the person who looks at a bare verge or a tired corner of town and sees what it could become.
She's a big-picture thinker who happens to love getting her hands dirty, and Brukunga is greener for it.

She's also one of the reasons the BCA exists at all. After the fire, Katrina and Kelly, (sometimes known as K1 and K2), joined forces and got this whole thing started.

Katrina's also the one behind the Grow Cart you'll find at the Hall. When she's not making Brukunga better, she's a busy soccer and netball mum, and she knows exactly where to find the best bakeries and hot chocs in the Hills.

That's Katrina's why. Everyone here has one.
