Last night, we were honoured to receive a community grant from the
Rotary Club of Mount Barker, and we are so grateful!
But honestly, the grant wasn't even the best part of the night.
Sitting in the room and hearing about all the other community groups, their projects, their passion, and the quiet, consistent work that Rotary does behind the scenes to give so many a helping hand, was so inspiring.
These are ordinary people doing extraordinary things for their communities, week in, week out.
This grant is going to help us kick-start our Pyrites Road Verge Greening Project, and we can't wait to get our hands in the dirt and make it happen.
Thank you to the Rotary Club of Mount Barker - what you do matters more than you probably realise. 🙏🙏

The Street Library outside the Brukunga Hall is full again and ready for the long weekend.
Pop down, have a browse, and grab yourself a book or two to settle in with over the long weekend. Whether it's a thriller, a gentle read, or something for the kids, there's bound to be something to suit.
Take a book, leave a book, or just take one to enjoy.
It's free and open to everyone.

🧱🔥 The Watts Bricks kilns fired their last brick in 1983. But history has a reason to celebrate today.

Buy a Brick in Watts Reserve Fundraiser Goal smashed. We more than doubled it!

We are beyond thankful and truly humbled by the generosity and support poured into this project.
But what has moved us most deeply has been the memories — the stories of brickworks life, the rich tapestry of what industry, family and community looked like in Native Valley (now Brukunga) across more than 140 years of operation.
You have shared things with us we will treasure & try to capture as much as we can into this project.

Every name on every paver. Every story shared. Every dollar given. It is all part of this.

Thanks to our amazing volunteers at the garden today and to the beautiful Stella for supplying homemade pumpkin soup and sourdough banana bread with walnuts.
Lovely morning and a great way to pass the time with community members.

🌱 Did you know we have a Community Garden group meeting every Tuesday morning?

Whether you've never grown a thing in your life or you've got dirt permanently under your fingernails, you are welcome here.

Come along, learn something new, share what you know, and stay for a cuppa when we're done.

📍 Brukunga Community Garden

We've got raised wicking beds, herbs, vegetables, native edible plants, and flowers.
The garden is wheelchair accessible and open to all ages.

And a big thank you to everyone who has been leaving produce, seedlings, seeds and cuttings on our Grow Free Cart at the front of the Hall.

It's all community gardening at its best!Keep them coming! 🙏

🌱 Working Bee: Brukunga CFS Firewise Garden

Brukunga Country Fire Service, 4 Peggy Buxton Rd

The CFS garden is in need of some love and we'd love a good turnout to help tidy things up and keep this fantastic community space looking its best.

Jobs on the day will include:
🌿 Pulling w**ds from the mulch areas
🌿 Spraying pathways with w**d killer
🌿 General tidy-up and maintenance

Please bring along:
🧤 Gloves
💧 Water bottle
✔️ Bucket
⛏ W**d pullers / gardening tools

Many hands make light work and every bit of help is truly appreciated 🧡
