πŸ”₯ 28 FLOORS. UP TO 25 KG OF GEAR. $4,042 RAISED! πŸ”₯

On Saturday 12 September, two of our Brukunga CFS firefighters, Marc Russell and Cooper Robertson, took on the 2026 Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb at Crown Metropol.

Firefighters and emergency services personnel from across Australia and around the world came together to climb a gruelling 28 floors while wearing up to 25 kg of turnout gear and breathing apparatus.

The climb is more than a physical challenge. It represents the significant health and wellbeing burdens faced by first responders and their families, while raising vital funds for cancer research and crisis support.

We are incredibly proud to share that Marc and Cooper raised an outstanding $4,042! β€οΈπŸ’›

πŸ”₯ STEPPING UP FOR A GREAT CAUSE πŸ”₯

Two of our members, Cooper Robertson and Marc Russell, are taking on the 2026 Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb on Saturday, 12 September.

They will tackle 28 floors wearing 25kg of firefighting gear – a huge physical challenge, all in support of an even bigger cause.

The Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb is aiming to raise $1,000,000 to help fight cancer, depression and su***de, supporting the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation, 000 Foundation and Lifeline.

πŸš’ We are incredibly proud to have Cooper and Marc representing our brigade and putting themselves to the test to support people and families who need it most.

πŸ’™ Now they need our help!

Every donation, large or small, helps them climb a little closer to their fundraising goals and contributes to the overall $1 million target.

πŸ‘‰ Check out Cooper and Marc’s posters and use their individual QR codes to donate and show your support.

If you cannot donate, you can still help by sharing this post and helping us spread the word.

Good luck, Cooper and Marc – we will be behind you every one of those 28 floors! πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯πŸš’

πŸ—£πŸ“’Heads up everyone!

AusAlert is a new national alert system designed to notify you of life-threatening emergencies, including natural disasters and severe weather events.

There are two levels of alerts:
🚨⚠️ Critical Alert – This is the alert currently being tested. It is only used for immediate, life-threatening emergencies, such as a major bushfire that is out of control and posing a serious threat to lives and property.

‼️Priority Alert – These messages provide important emergency information but will not override your phone's volume or silent settings.

Test Details:
πŸ“† Monday 27 July
πŸ•œ 1:30 pm (SA time)

During the test, the Critical Alert will override your phone's volume settings and sound a loud siren for up to 10 seconds, even if your phone is on silent.

There's no need to be alarmed if you receive the test alert - it's simply to ensure the system works when it's needed most.

This week has been action-packed, with Monday night's training session honing our skills in fire track assessments and Firemapper usage, perfectly timed ahead of our response to the Kanmantoo incident amidst the heatwave, and I couldn't be prouder of every single brigade member's dedication and commitment.
