Mount Barker parkrun

Mount Barker parkrun A free, weekly, timed 5k event every Saturday morning at 8am at the Homemaker Centre. Everyone is welcome to walk, run or volunteer.

Mount Barker parkrun is a FREE weekly timed 5km event for runners of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 8am from the Mount Barker Homemaker Centre, approximately 33km east of Adelaide's CBD. parkrun is not a race against other runners, but a 5k timed run and it can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan. It offers an opportunity f

or all the local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy the beautiful surrounds and get physically active at the same time. We want to encourage people to jog or
run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE!

Are you celebrating a milestone at this Saturdays Mt Barker parkrun?

Ellie Towill is! This Saturday, Ellie celebrates her 10th parkrun!
Ellie is one of several Mt Barker parkrun babies. Now five (and a half), Ellie was born a few years after her dad Adam proposed to her mum Ali at the Mt Barker parkrun finish line!
Ellie loves to pat the parkrun dogs, high five her friends along the course and always looks forward to a hot chocolate after her run.
Will Ellie chalk up a new PB for her board this week?

We'd love to celebrate your milestone too! Just drop us a message or email and we'll give you a big shout out too.

BTW - we're still in need of a photographer for Saturday. If you're able to help out, please email or message us and we'll ensure you're good to go for Saturday. Thanks heaps :)

Volunteers are the lifeblood of parkrun ... We love them and are so grateful for every single one ...

We are in need of a couple of volunteers for this Saturday.

We're hollerin' for a Marshall 😂

And we also need a photographer. All of the photos in this post are of some of our parkrunners, but on the other end of these photos is one of our amazing volunteers using their camera to take these photos. If you are able to help out, just message us, drop us a comment, or email us ... Thanks in advance 😁

What a glorious way to celebrate the final parkrunday of Autumn at our lovely course for event #609!

Today 258 people chose wisely to run, jog, stroll and walk through the exceptional Laratinga Wetlands - with 17 being first timers and 35 recording new Personal Bests!

Plus we celebrated Roger Lowe’s outstanding 500th parkrun… alongside Bryan Scruby’s 250th!
So good.

Could the world exist without volunteers? Unlikely…
So thanks to these legendary volunteers for making today’s event possible:

Ros LOWE • Janet THOMPSON • Greg CROWDEN • Paul KITCHING • Alison JOHNS • Jo GOODWIN • Carolyn HALLIDAY • Sharon DENHAM • Paula PAROLIN • David BROWNIE • Garry LEECH • Suranie ALWIS • Emma CHAMBERLAYNE • Lisa DAVIS • Brendan CHRISTIAN • Evie COPPING • Richard GUNNER • Robyn LIERTON • Cheryl LIERTON • Bhavani QUIRKE • Terry SANDERSON • Margaret BARTER • Connie VAN STEENIS • Lynda GIBSON • Danielle GIBSON • Chelsea PEACOCK • Nigel CHAPMAN

You can admire most of that lot here; with the rest of today’s photos (and some choice vision!) to follow later today, with thanks Bhavani Q! Meanwhile today's full results (and a complete event history) can be found right here: https://www.parkrun.com.au/mountbarker/results/latestresults/

Thanks for being part of PK’s energy and our wonderful community this morning… see you at another parkrun soon!

Roger Lowe is celebrating something VERY SPECIAL this parkrunday, will you be there?
If you are at Mount Barker this Sat May 30 you will witness Roger Lowe’s 500th parkrun!
One of our originals - and a truly loved and valued member of our community - this is Roger’s story…

"Roger’s first parkrun was 13 years ago at the very first South Australian parkrun! He was one of just 44 participants in Dec 2012 at Torrens.
We can’t see him in the photo but he was there!
Since then his parkrun journey has taken Roger to 87 different locations in five countries, but most of them (340!) have been here at Mount Barker.

Roger has volunteered 112 times, mostly when he has been injured. But his volunteer stats also show an interesting bit of Mount Barker parkrun history: he has done Results Processing 35 times! You see, in the first year at Mount Barker parkrun Ros and Craig struggled to get that 'wretched early results system' to work. But to everyone's relief, Roger could somehow connect all the dots to produce a list of parkrunners aligned with appropriate times. Phew!

Well done, Roger, on your continued parkrun participation and perseverance!
We look forward to celebrating this Saturday!"

If YOU have a milestone of any kind or number to ALSO celebrate this Saturday and want it celebrated please let us know here or send us a message. We love sharing all milestone celebrations.

Back to Roger... enjoy many pics from many years of his parkrun journey so far.
