Vets for Compassion – Mobile First Responders

Vets for Compassion is not a traditional veterinary clinic and does not operate from a fixed location or building. Instead, we are a mobile team of dedicated veterinarians and volunteers who provide care wherever it is needed—whether in the field, at rescue sites, or in partnership with existing facilities. Our Role:
✔ We provide immediate veterinary

assistance to animals in crisis.
✔ We respond to emergencies with expert care.
✖ We are not transporters. Our rescue number is 0407 984 594. If you require animal transport, please contact Wildlife Victoria at (03) 8400 7300. Our mission is to ensure expert care reaches those who need it most—without the constraints of a physical clinic.

What does world-class Australian art have to do with saving animals? Everything, when a kind heart is behind it. 🐴❤️

We are so grateful to Archibald Prize and Doug Moran National Portrait Prize-winning artist Tim Storrier AM, one of Australia's most distinguished living artists, for donating two remarkable limited edition lithographs to our upcoming fundraising night this Saturday!

Equine Impedimenta (study) Left and Equine Impedimenta (study) Right (2023, edition of 100, 60 x 77 cm each) beautifully capture the quiet dignity of a horse carrying the weight of the world on her back, a fitting symbol of the animals we work every day to protect.

Both pieces will be featured in our silent auction, with every dollar raised going directly to life-saving care for wildlife, farm animals, and companion animals who need us.

Tim's work is held in collections around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and every major gallery in Australia. The highest auction price recorded for a Tim Storrier painting is $390,400, sold by Bonhams, this is a rare chance to own a piece of that legacy, and to make a real difference for animals at the same time.

We are a veterinary charity and we rescue all species from wildlife, farm animals to companion animals.

She was hit by a car. A fractured pelvis. A dislocated hip. Serious internal injuries.

But she kept going because she had a little joey in her pouch.

When our team arrived, it was clear the kindest thing we could do for this brave mum was give her a peaceful goodbye.

But inside her pouch, her baby was still alive. Completely unscathed.

Gently, our volunteers coaxed him out, assessed him, and got him into care...where he received all the love and attention he needed to thrive.

She couldn't survive her injuries. But because of Vets for Compassion, her joey did.

Right now, Victoria's wildlife is facing an emergency. Countless animals are being left injured and orphaned on our roads. Your support helps our veterinary team reach them in time.

A Whistling Kite was found too weak to lift his head. 168 kilometres driven to give him a chance. 💔

When a kind hearted local found this beautiful bird, he was critically unwell...emaciated and unable to stand. Our volunteers, Karl and Mel, kept him warm and safe for the long journey to the Werribee Zoo Wildlife Hospital, where expert vets could give him the thorough assessment he deserved.

The team discovered he was suffering from canker, a devastating disease that, left untreated, can be fatal for birds of prey. His little body had been through too much.

Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is ensure an animal's final moments are peaceful, surrounded by kindness and care.

Not every rescue ends the way we hope. But every single one matters. Because every animal deserves compassion. 💚

A kind-hearted driver pulled over after spotting a blue-tongue lizard who had been hit by a car...and that moment of compassion changed everything.

Sadly, mum couldn't be saved. But what no one knew was that she was carrying four babies.

She was rushed to the team at Gisborne Veterinary Clinic, where X-rays revealed there might still be a chance for the little ones. An emergency caesarean followed.

Two babies had already been lost to the trauma. A third had suffered devastating spinal injuries. But one tiny fighter wasn't ready to give up.

One survived.

That little sole survivor is now in care at Wildlings Wildlife Shelter...warm, safe, and being given every chance as she rests, recovers, and slowly finds her strength.

Thank you to the compassionate driver who stopped. Your kindness gave this little one her chance at life. And to the vets and nurses at Gisborne Veterinary Clinic, to Karl & Mel from Wildlings Wildlife Shelter for caring for her...thank you for going above and beyond for our local wildlife. Even in the face of such heartbreak, your swift action meant this little one gets a chance at life.

This one’s for you, Jetstar Australia! ✈️

We’re Vets for Compassion, a volunteer-led veterinary team rescuing and caring for animals across Victoria, seven days a week. Floods, fires, emergencies. We show up and provide free vet care to any animal who needs it.

On June 6th, we’re holding A Night of Compassion, our annual fundraiser with 300 guests from the vet and animal care community.

We’ve got the chance to offer a Sydney weekend getaway as a silent auction prize. We have accommodation and experiences lined up, but we’re missing one piece of the puzzle: the flights.
