NSW RFS - Bowning Brigade

We're proud to share the completion of brigade upgrades to our facilities, made possible through the generous support of the Bango Wind Farm Community Enhancement Fund.

With more than $5,000 in grant funding, we've been able to purchase and install:
🚒 A commercial-grade PPE washing machine
🚒 New secure firefighter lockers
🚒 New shower screens for our station amenities

These improvements are all about protecting our volunteers. The commercial washing machine allows bush and grass fire PPE to be professionally cleaned at the station, helping remove harmful contaminants and reducing the need for firefighters to take contaminated gear home. The new lockers provide each member with secure storage for their protective clothing and equipment, while the upgraded shower facilities further improve hygiene and comfort after incidents.

Looking after the health and wellbeing of our volunteers is just as important as providing them with the right equipment to respond to emergencies. These upgrades will benefit our members for many years to come.

Our raffle prizes have now all been delivered to their deserving winners! 🎉

Congratulations to Rachel, who took home our 1st Prize – 2 tonnes of firewood.

Congratulations to Robin, the winner of our 2nd Prize – a $250 Visa Gift Card.

And finally, congratulations to Emily Witt Property Partners , who won our 3rd Prize – a $50 meat voucher, kindly supplied by DJ's Family Butchery.

Thankyou to Yass Valley Mayor Jasmin Jones for calling past to draw our raffle tickets.

And a huge thank you to everyone who supported our raffle and cake stall.

The Bowning Rural Fire Brigade Raffle is almost over! 🚒

Come down and support the Bowning brigade! We’ll have:

It was awesome for our brigade to be able to join Sam’s convoy on her stretch into Bowning this evening. Was wonderful to see the Bowning community supporting her all the way into town! 👏
Sam is nearing the end of her 441km roll from Corowa to Yass and will reach Yass tomorrow.
Let’s all get behind her. 🚒

🔥 Bush Fire Danger Period Concludes – Key Information for Landholders

As of midnight today, 31 March, the Bush Fire Danger Period (BFDP) will conclude across the six Districts within the South Eastern Area Command.

While a fire permit may no longer be required, there are still important legal responsibilities in place for anyone planning to burn.

If you intend to conduct a burn, you must:

✔ Notify NSW RFS at least 24 hours prior You can submit your notification online here: 🌐 www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify
✔ Notify your immediate neighbours at least 24 hours prior

This is critical to help prevent unnecessary Triple Zero (000) calls and avoid emergency brigade responses to planned burns.

📝 Notifications can be lodged for periods of up to 21 days.

⚠️ Important: If you live within a Fire and Rescue NSW Fire District, a fire permit is required year-round. Permits can be applied for via the Fire and Rescue NSW website.

Before lighting up, ensure you:

• Check weather conditions
• Have appropriate resources on hand
• Monitor the fire at all times
• Remain in attendance until the fire is fully extinguished
