A year of photographs at Berwick Springs Lake comes down to four. Each season’s winner is now in the running for our Photo of the Year 2026.

The majestic finalists are:
🌅 Summer, “Forever Magical”: a sky of pink and purple, mirrored in perfectly still water.
🍂 Autumn, “Autumn seating”: empty benches facing the mist as first light breaks.
❄️ Winter, “Sunrise Glory”: a bare tree against an electric blue and magenta dawn.
🌱 Spring, “Rainbow dome”: a full rainbow arching over the water.

🌱🏆 ANNOUNCING OCTOBER AND SPRING WINNERS 🌱

October ended in a tie! Congratulations to our joint winners, who finished level on reactions:
📸 Jason Coggan, “Rainbow dome”: a full rainbow arching over the water, with a line of birds crossing beneath it.
📸 Sandra Brash, “A Perfect Sunrise”: purple, orange and pink reflected across the Lake, framed by a silhouetted tree.

From the three Spring finalists – “Twilight Sky”, “Rainbow dome” and “A Perfect Sunrise” – the committee has selected “Rainbow dome” by Jason Coggan as the Spring Photo of the Season, as announced in the October voting post. It is quite a debut: Jason entered the competition for the first time this month.

That completes the line-up for Photo of the Year:

❄️ Winter: “Sunrise Glory”
🌱 Spring: “Rainbow dome”

🗳️ Voting for Photo of the Year opens tomorrow night and closes on Saturday, 7 November. The winner will be announced at Berwick Springs Lake Day on Sunday, 8 November.

🧺🎉 LAKE DAY 2026 · SUNDAY 8 NOVEMBER 🎉🧺

Less than two weeks to go.

Bring a blanket, something to eat and, if you like, a plate to share. You'll find us between the playground and the Berwick Springs Pergola. Come for an hour, a morning or the day. Dogs on leads are welcome. 🐕

Presentations of the Photo of the Year and the Drawing & Colouring Awards at 11:00 am (TBC).

If the weather turns, Sunday 15 November is the backup.

See you there! Oh, and bring a friend or a neighbour. 😊

Seven entries for October, the final month of spring, and a warm welcome to Anthony Franklin and Jason Coggan, who join the competition for the first time. Sandra Brash and J.D. have shared their photos of our beautiful Lake and surroundings. 😍

This is the last monthly vote before Photo of the Year. The two most popular photos will join September’s “Twilight Sky” as Spring finalists, with the committee selecting the Spring Photo of the Season to complete the line-up for Photo of the Year.

Congratulations to Sandra Brash on winning September’s Photo of the Month with “Twilight Sky.”

❤️ THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS ❤️

If you found Berwick Springs Reserve a little cleaner today, here is the reason. Twenty Monash University student volunteers gave their time to clear litter from around the Lake and the parkland, and they left most impressed with Berwick Springs and with our Community.
We offer them our heartfelt thanks - their effort shows! We extend our thanks to Dr Dhayani Kirubaharan, their lecturer, for making this collaboration possible.

But the thanks go flow both ways. One resident came out to her verandah to thank the group, another arrived with a box of chocolates, and many more stopped to say thank you as the work went on. That is Berwick Springs at its best.

After the torrential rain washed out the original date, the Monash University students' Clean Up Australia event at Berwick Springs Reserve will now take place this Sunday morning.

If you are around the Lake, please greet them with a smile, a wave or a simple "thank you". They are giving their time to care for a place we love. Let's make sure they feel welcome.

🌿🧤 CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA – SATURDAY 3 OCTOBER 🧤🌿

This Saturday afternoon, a group of Monash University students will be at Berwick Springs Reserve for a Clean Up Australia event, collecting litter around the Lake and parkland.

If you are out walking, running or simply enjoying the Lake, you will likely see them. A smile, a wave or a simple "thank you" goes a long way. They are giving their time to care for a place we love, and it would be terrific for them to leave knowing how much our Community appreciates it.

Please also give them a little room on the paths and keep dogs close to you.

This month we are closing early to make room for Photo of the Year. October entries close Sunday, 18 October.

It is the second month of Spring and your last chance to have a photo in the running this year. Blossom, fresh green, longer light: the Lake has rarely looked better.

🧺 🎉 LAKE DAY 2026 · SUNDAY 8 NOVEMBER 🎉 🧺

Berwick Springs Lake Day is back for its second year, and the plan is simple: the Community comes to the Lake for a picnic with neighbours in our beautiful Reserve.

Bring a blanket, something to eat, and, if you like, a plate to share with passers-by. You'll find us between the playground and the Berwick Springs Pergola. Come for an hour, a morning, or the day. A no-fuss get-together, where everyone takes responsibility for themselves and the Community looks after each other. Everyone is welcome, and so are dogs on leads. 🐕

Chalk will be available so kids can have fun on the footpath, and who knows what else people may come up with!
