As we all know, the last Saturday of the month is pacer week, and with Spring just around the corner, we were greeted with perfect conditions to help us smash out some fantastic times for BBG event #271.
We had our biggest crowd in 12 weeks, which included 10 first timers to the parkrun family, with Glenn, Tracey, Karlina, Tyler, Anita, Samantha, Andrew, Stephanie, Nicole and Sophie getting their barcodes scanned for the first time. We hope that you each had a great morning with us and that this was the first of many.
We also had 11 tourists, with visitors from far and wide, including England, Scotland, Karkarook, Wyndham Vale, You Yangs, Euroa and faraway Kenny Rez. Thanks for sharing the morning with us.
It was a terrific morning for milestones, with the following achievements to celebrate:
* First time volunteers - Larissa and David
* 25 - Nancy, Una and Stephanie
* 100 at BBG - Local legend, Harry, which includes 9 first place finishes with us
Pacer week means lots of PB's and this week was no different, with 24 participants getting the chance to ring the bell this morning. Fantastic effort and well done to our incredible team of pacers.
It was also amazing to see that our first three place getters were aged 14 or under, which made me feel old, but is great to see. Brilliant effort, Blake, Judd and Indy.
As always, we couldn't do this without our awesome team of volunteers. Our pacers did a sensational job and Ben almost carried me to a PB myself (I missed by a second, but that's due to my old legs, not his elite pacing). A massive thanks to Cassandra, Sharon, Maggie, Alison, Bec, Kerryn, Damian, Cathy, Larissa, Justine, Katie, Freda, Peter, Leanne, Donna, Tim, Andrew, Luke, David, the other Peter, Ben, Tony, Dianne, Julie and Darryn. We appreciate all that you do.
Next week will be the first parkrun of Spring, so we look forward to seeing the numbers get bigger and the times get faster. Don't forget your barcode!
