These roles will be instrumental in delivering the ACF participation plan and national events & administration, while building stronger systems and reducing reliance on volunteers across the country.

The ACF is deeply saddened by the passing of Carmel Bates on Monday 20 April 2026.

Carmel made an extraordinary contribution to ACF during her time as Executive Officer from 2004–2010, a role she fulfilled entirely on a volunteer basis. She brought exceptional competence, enthusiasm and initiative to everything she undertook and she approached her work with genuine care for the people and the sport she served.

Despite the demands of full‑time employment, club involvement and family commitments, Carmel dedicated countless hours each week to supporting and advancing calisthenics at a national level. Her commitment, work ethic and generosity of spirit left a lasting impact on ACF and on all who had the privilege of working with her.

We extend our sincere condolences to her husband, Chris, and her daughter, Elise. Carmel’s contribution, kindness and passion will be remembered with deep gratitude and she will be greatly missed.
