We’re excited to introduce something new for our youngest children — and for the parents, grandparents and carers who come along with them.

Biser First Steps Playgroup is for babies, toddlers and preschool children aged 0–4 years, and will be held at:

Our children will have the opportunity to sing, dance, explore, play and begin discovering Macedonian language and culture in a fun and natural way. Early exposure to another language can support children's communication, thinking, cultural identity and connection to different cultures.

And Biser First Steps isn't only for the children.

We want it to be a place where new mums, parents, grandparents and carers can get out of the house, enjoy a cuppa, meet other families, share experiences and build genuine friendships. Research into playgroups shows that these relaxed opportunities for parents and carers to connect can help build social networks, belonging and support.

Whether your family has Macedonian heritage, you are part of a mixed-heritage family, or you would simply love your child to experience another language and culture...

No Cooking Class – August & September

Please note that there will be no Macedonian Cooking Classes in Geelong during August and September, as many of our members and volunteers are currently in Macedonia.

Normal dancing classes resume from next Monday 10th August.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back when classes resume. Thank you for your understanding, and safe travels to all those overseas! 🇲🇰❤️

A SPECIAL INVITATION TO ALL MACEDONIAN FAMILIES 🇲🇰

This Sunday, 2nd August, we warmly invite all Macedonian families and friends to gather in prayer as we celebrate the feast of Sveti Ilija (St Elijah) and commemorate Ilinden—a day that unites our Orthodox faith, history and Macedonian identity.

We come together to give thanks to God, honour the courage and sacrifice of those who fought to preserve our faith and freedom, and ensure that our children and grandchildren understand the rich heritage they have inherited.

This year, our gathering will be especially meaningful as we also remember our beloved Father Cedomir Ilievski, whose faithful service touched generations of Macedonian families in Geelong.

The morning will include:
⛪ 9:30 am – Holy Divine Liturgy for the Feast of Sveti Ilija
🌺 11:00 am – Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Goce Delčev Spomenik
☕ 11:30 am – Tea & Coffee in the Church Hall

Whether this is your first Ilinden or a tradition passed down through generations, we would love to welcome you. Together, let us celebrate our faith, honour our heroes, and keep our Macedonian heritage alive for future generations.

The melody is breathtaking, the lyrics are powerful, and together they stir something deep within the soul of every Macedonian. Once again, you have created a song that reminds us of who we are, where we come from, and why we must never forget.

God bless you and the incredible gift you have been given. Thank you for using your talent to keep our history, faith, identity and love for our homeland alive through your music. Every one of your songs is a treasure, and we truly love them all.

As Macedonians, we will never forget the heroes who sacrificed everything so that future generations could dream of freedom. Their courage and love for Macedonia live on in our hearts.

Our journey is not over. We still have a responsibility to continue the fight—not with weapons, but with truth, dignity and unity—for the recognition of our identity, our history, our language and our homeland. These are not privileges; they are our fundamental human rights.

🕊️ REMINDER FOR ALL BISER FAMILIES 🕊️

Just a reminder that there will be NO dancing practice tomorrow evening (Monday 27th July).

INSTEAD, we invite all our Biser children and their families to join us at St John the Baptist Macedonian Orthodox Church at 6pm for a special evening of faith, remembrance and learning as we prepare for Ilinden.

The evening will include:
🕯️ Lighting a candle in loving memory of our beloved Father Cedomir Ilievski
⛪ Learning about St Ilija (Saint Elijah) and why Ilinden is so important
✝️ A simple explanation of the church service and the meaning behind what we do
🌺 Visiting the Goce Delčev Spomenik to learn why we honour our heroes and lay a wreath
👕 Costume collection for children participating on Ilinden

This is a wonderful opportunity for our children to connect with their faith, history and Macedonian heritage in a meaningful way.

We encourage all Biser families to attend and look forward to sharing this special evening together.
