π£ At its AGM tonight, the Board of Pink Belt Project elected to apply for voluntary cancellation. That means, weβll no longer exist as a formal registered charity and not-for-profit. But we do hope this won't be the end. Together, here, we started a movement. We put a spotlight on the incredible power of martial arts for healing from violence - particularly for women.
With your help, we lit the flame and we know that glow will be everlasting. π₯ We hope our name and logo will remain as a symbol of empowerment for women through martial arts. π₯π©·
Rather than being downcast, we would like to celebrate what has been achieved - More than 200 Pink Belt Scholarships have been offered up in every State and Territory of Australia as well as (incredibly!) several international locations. π₯
125 women received a Pink Belt Scholarship and of those, 48 completed their full 12 months. π
Our website will remain as a resource on trauma-informed martial arts for prevention of and recovery from violence.
Some of you have witnessed the incredible transformation and healing that has occurred as a result.
The bravery of our recipients to step forward and take on the Pink Belt challenge has been nothing short of inspiring and an absolute privilege to have been part of.
As you can imagine, this has been a very tough decision but despite our best efforts over many years, we have not been able to secure a source of funding that would provide us with a sustainable future. π₯
Thank you for being part of our community and we hope you will remain here as part of the movement. π©·
